#9382 is at QV. I saw doing the (Q83) yesterday morning.

That's an odd move... I remember riding that bus this past summer on the B6, it was nice, clean and it ran good. On the plus side, UP got the 5000s that were reported a few posts up so its all good! For a while there UP was getting an endless barrage of 96 Novas, glad they upgraded in hand me downs lol.

Good send the hand me downs to MTA Bus. Ulmer wont need them any more.

Lol , they took our express buses & now our rts ! . we have 5024-5025 now from 126th . 9083 might be going next to scrap . Its sitting in pure dust & it has a hole & the cover is up in the back & it wont start .

Lol , i dont think 5078-5124 are going to quill just yet , quill might get these when we get 30 new buses but so far they arent going becaue we would be short on buses . & if they were going to quill they would of been there already . Quill has had 5075-5077 for about 2-3 weeks now .

Don't hold your breath, Ulmer Park will have to send back several of those buses in replacement of these. so its likely that 5078-5099 will be over here.

At the rate things have been going, I rather have them at Ulmer.

UP should be getting new buses soon (NovaBus LFS and Prevost later this year to next year). Also, depots don't make transfer decisions, the Department of Buses does for a variety of reasons such as mileage and fleet age (At least thats what I believe is done)

Correct , ulmer park is getting new nova lfs low floors , 30 of them & in december 2011 they will be getting new prevost express buses including castleton , & the movement of buses is up to the manager or superintendant . Mta buses can last up to 12-15 years or 500,000 mileage & thats it .

RTS' last longer. 205 of the '98's, and all 145 of the '99's are going to be overhauled. So they will be here well past their retirement age.

Yeah. Remember the 8000 series was around for 18 years. The '96's are approaching the 15 year mark now. IIRC we haven't ever retired an RTS series after 12 years. Most stick around for at least 15 years/625,000+ mi.

2270 went for 21 years---being retired in 2002.

Yet the 400s and 500s didn't make it past 14.

1826 also lasted until the 2000.

1852 went to 2002, and 1751 and 1767 weren't far behind. 3469 went to April 2004, and 3901 and 3949 went to 2005---and 3503 (under various numbers) lasted until early 2007. The 4300s to 4800s may have gone longer if the NYCTA (pre-MTA Bus) didn't want the two-stroke buses out the door more quickly.

Then you have some of the ex-PBL GMCs that lasted 21-22 years (the last one was a 1986 unit, 1162)...and now the 5900s (the only surviving ex-Green Lines buses) are on their last legs.

Plus don't forget the 81-82 GMC RTS buses that lasted 21-22 years like up to 2004-2005. Most of them (which turned out to be 7000 & 7500) were rehabbed by their engine/transmission upgrade. so I guess rehabbed buses=extended life.
