With that said, lets get this topic back on track. Let's try and get back on common ground and cut out all of the pettiness, okay?

subwaycommuter1983 Posted February 5, 2018 Share #5159 Posted February 5, 2018 Are they testing any trains on the Brighton line?? According to the MTA website southbound B trains are running local in Brooklyn due to equipment testing. Maybe it's set 3010-3019 that came out of the shadow????

Any reason why they're way out of order and they're delivering the first 31XXs before filling in that 16 car gap? The higher the number, the greater the state of modification as manufactured. They're the most up-to-date. Lower numbers will follow after receiving post-production mods in Plattsburgh, but against NYCT's desired delivery requirements, so may take a little while. Anyhow, it answers the question as to which way the continuing deliveries will go (up or down), so we might deduce that 3102-05 aren't far behind. All R-179's are delivered by flatbed truck through 207 Street Shops in a "raw" state. Final assembly and preliminary testing has also been done at 207 Street lately, but had earlier been undertaken at Pitkin. Means NOTHING against their service assignments, so when preliminary testing is complete they get moved to their operating facility (currently ENY) for 500-mile "burn-in" before entering revenue service. It sounds like there is at least one more train burning in this week: 3086-89 plus 3094-97. Their acceptance would make up 3 trains overall. 3050-57 and 3010-19 probably need(ed) a lot of retroactive remediation work and reliability measurement before their final acceptance testing can start. I must profess some surprise there have been no more interruptions as yet!
Around the Horn Posted February 6, 2018 Share #5174 Posted February 6, 2018 That would be 3098-3099 coming soon, followed by 3105-3104 and 3103-3102... The highest numbered car of the set gets trucked in first, hence 3014 having the honor of the first car delivered last fall...
