(TRUE STORY!)

(E) and (F) trains are running local in both directions in Queens.

Due to an NYPD investigation of a sick customer at Elmhurst Avenue, my (E) train was stranded for 30 minutes before passengers were allowed out of the train, and maybe another 20-30 minutes before the NIS train left the station.

I'd rather have through service than service in one direction.

Building on the what-if a few pages back, the following has happened:

The bath has escalated into a defacto pool party and has made the downtown express (4)(5) track unusable at Bleecker Street.

The leak to the 6th ave line has been plugged up and the track fixed, so no more issues at Bway Lafayette.

A train has stalled in the eastbound track of the Chrystie Street Connection between Bway Lafayette and Essex, affecting (M) trains.

(1) train broke down at 50th Street uptown.

The Save the 6th Avenue committee is still rioting, so the same conditions are effective.

WHICH MEANS:

Uptown Local and Downtown Express tracks unusable at Bleecker Street. (4)(5)(6) Affected

Uptown Local track unusable at 14th Street. (6) Affected

Eastbound track unusable in Chrystie St Connection between Bway Lafayette and Essex Street. (M) Affected

Uptown Local track unusable at 50th Street. (1) Affected

All 468 Stations Must Remain Open

To Prevent Violence by the Save the 6th Avenue Line group, all trains must run their entire route, no 2-sections or short turns. (Skipping stops is allowed.)

For (M) it have to be 2 sections, there's no way train could go to 6th Av when Crhsitie St track is closed b/c if (M) run on same westbound track, it will delay the (F).

A sinkhole has occurred at Times Square 42 St, and a bus has fell into the station. Another sinkhole has occurred at 59 Street Columbus Circle affecting the (1)(2)(3)(N)(Q)(R)(W)(A)(C). All the tracks at the station are out of service.

Question:

If this is a What-If thread, could I possibly give a problem like a train has stalled and how do you evacuate people to safety?

Something more sensible.

At the Main Street-Flushing station, someone has changed the signs on an R62A, and changed it to a Flushing (11) sign. Luckily, two NYPD officers were present, and was arrested on the spot. But now, the station is closed for investigation.

Reroute/suspension away. Extra credit for bus service (or use of shuttle buses).

Simple: no (7) service between Flushing and Mets-Willets Point. Shuttle buses in the suspended area.

I didnt know you could get arrested for changing the signs....

NEXT:

There is a stalled (Q) train at the abandoned Myrtle Av Station, the train can no longer move due to debris on the tracks. How would you evacuate people to safety?

You either move people to the back 5 cars, split the train, and back up the half back to DeKalb, or just get a rescue train. (B) trains will be suspended at the time and northbound (Q) trains run via Whitehall.

A small earthquake (and they do happen up here, even if rarely) catches the MTA off-guard and splashes a bit of water over the city. Coney Island yard and most of the Sea Beach line (up to New Utrecht Avenue) is out of service. Water pushed up the Hudson and East rivers causes minor flooding in the east river tubes south of the bridge crossings.

Armed robbers, taking advantage of the panic cause chaos in small pockets of the system with possible deaths/injuries requiring police activity at:

  • (1) 207 Street uptown platform
  • (4) 170 Street southbound platform
  • (A)(C)(E) Chambers Street to Canal Street A man with a paper bag over his head fled into the tunnel after a successful robbery.
  • (L) Sutter Avenue tracks An assailant appears to have been chased by his potential victim into the tracks and electrocuted to death.
  • (B)(Q)(R) DeKalb Avenue Manhattan-bound platform
