FASTRACK Subway Repair Discussion

6 Lexington Ave

Recommended Posts

They still have to relay somewhere on the Jerome line (likely 138 St-Grand Concourse middle). I don't know why the 5 is getting the shaft again. It's starting to act like the Forest Hills G with these continual cutbacks.

Yeah, that's about right. Unlike the Montague closure, they can't really close the Cranberry tubes continuously for a long period like that. Not without severely reducing service on both the 6th and 8th Ave lines.

The 5 reduction maybe it leads to headways bunching. Also the (6) laying up at 125th street possibility that why due to congestion.

For the A/C shutdown the MTA said that it is less severe than the (R) tunnel.

The 2015 schedule is out now up to April. There isn't anything we haven't seen before. Most of the work is on the Lexington Avenue line and it's branches.

Yikes - two consecutive weeks of fasttrack on the QBL?

That's remarkably inconvenient. I bet the service changes for the intervening weekend are equally catastrophic.

The shuttle bus service they've provided in queens during these in the past has been laughably bad.

However there is extra (7) service until 2:30am.

Yep they called plan 2, I got a very detailed text alert about it. Here's a relevant quote from it:

"..Its suspension means that subway customers will not have to transfer for shuttle buses and it will provide storage space overnight for idle No. 6 trains."

Wait, time out.

It's suspension... means that subway customers will not have to transfer to shuttle bus...

What exactly is this Plan 2?

to amend my statement.

When the first fasttrak they only did one week. i guess at that time it was little shabby  they can do much on one week. Now with  some fastrack today, it either long stretch between the two temporary terminals or when they was surveyed the area, it look bad on the their eye but it can be fix in less time then they thought. it better to try to do two weeks rather then one. Maybe their target is maintain all in once in two weeks, then thereafter the fastrack can be reduced to one week.

This is IMO

Maybe that is the cause. Also the winter weather can affect Fastrack program too.

Instead of UES fastrack they are going to focus on the (6) in the Bronx. Maybe it due to the derailment earlier today

Poor (5) line always getting knocked out. I wonder why they have to knock the (5)? Maybe it due to the shared track in the tunnel?
