Wallyhorse Posted August 22, 2015 Share #3326 Posted August 22, 2015 (edited) Yeah. That's also why I said that running a shuttle in Brooklyn is unnecessary. The would still be crowded anyway for all the reasons I've stated on the previous page, despite what Wallyhorse and Appa have been saying. The only people who would be on that shuttle are those trying to get to the Lex, and that leads to the problems described above this post. Not really much you can do much about overcrowding or whatever during this situations like this anyway. True, but you also get people for instance who ride the or (or from 6th Avenue, the and ) over the Bridge and get off at Atlantic-Barclays (as those trains do skip a host of stops) who are looking for the and made their way to the express platform not knowing about the outages. Having the operate as a shuttle between Nevins and Utica would have been helpful as it would have taken pressure off the and . If people knew they could have taken the or to Atlantic-Barclays and changed to a relatively empty shuttle there, I'm sure some would have taken that alternate route. Abba Posted August 23, 2015 Share #3327 Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) Going from Atlantic useful. The other way no.They could have ran it from Atlantic to Utica then it should run light.Only should have service Utica-bound.Or make announcements that there is no service on the middle platform. But people shouldn't be left hanging on the middle platform. There should have been announcements on the middle track at Atlantic Avenue. Those that suggested turning the back south at Borough Hall sorry but that wouldn't work at all. The switches are located in the Joralemon tubes. The shuttle idea sounds good in theory but why take a chance using the Nevins Spur track if it's not needed. The person assigned to cover that area at the Rail Control Center is the same person responsible for the Joralemon St tubes. Why bring another train into that area? Thats why the re-routed s/b trains ran local in Brooklyn. Simply put tube>shuttle. Carry on.
TrainFanInfinity Posted August 24, 2015 Share #3329 Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) Service Change Posted: 08/24/2015 6:21AM Due to track maintenance between 14 St and Chambers St the following service changes are in effect: Southbound 1 trains will terminate at 14 St. (Shuttle?) Bus service is available from 14 St to South Ferry. 2 and 3 trains are running local between 34 St-Penn Station and Chambers St in both directions. Some 2 trains will operate on the 5 line from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Nevins St. Expect delays in 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 train service. Northbound 1 trains are running express from 14 St to 34 St-Penn Station. Allow additional travel time. WTF. Since when did they do this type of thing on a weekday, and unplanned at that? Wonder how the bus thing is going to go, even though there is still local service from 14th Street to Chambers St. EDIT: Shuttle buses only run Chambers St-South Ferry. They were running some express local, but that doesn't help me getting to 116 st. And naturally, the first train that actually comes through goes on an express run after 96. 50 minutes late to work. Gotta be kidding me with this stuff.

Abba Posted August 25, 2015 Share #3342 Posted August 25, 2015 (edited) So for the 2nd time in a week I witnessed a second major service change. They actually put the red tape on the northbound local at Chambers St.Service was more or less like it was said on MTA website.i took a that went express from 34th to 14th and terminated.(2)'s and (3)'s were local after 34th.No express AT ALL below 14th at all that I saw.Looks like some (1)'s were sent to Brooklyn. It looks the MTA dosent really know what's better. To send the to Brooklyn? Or terminate it at 14th.I think Brooklyn might be better but the headways on all three trains should be increased a bit. alekr Posted August 26, 2015 Share #3346 Posted August 26, 2015 Service Change Posted: 08/25/2015 10:10PM Due to signal problems at Astoria-Ditmars Blvd, the following service changes are in effect: and trains are running with delays in both directions. Northbound trains are running express from Queensboro Plaza to Astoria Blvd. Some northbound trains terminate at 57 St-7 Av. Allow additional travel time. Still ongoing. It would be ideal if they did a emergency GO and terminate the at Queensboro and sending out shuttle buses. It would allow the workers to fix it without any interruptions. They really need to fix the portion north of Queensboro for a entire weekend.

itmaybeokay Posted August 26, 2015 Share #3348 Posted August 26, 2015 Signal problems at Lex on the BMT Bway line still ongoing as of 5:10pm That's 2 straight days of rush hour woes for the line. Not fun getting to Astoria - especially when the EFMR are all gummed up during rush hour as well until september.
