checkmatechamp13 Posted August 28, 2012 Share #76 Posted August 28, 2012 I got a brochure. It says the service increases on the S59/78 will mostly be in the early morning and evening hours. The stops seem to be updated for the S79 (they took the S79 sign off the local stops). Also, it's stupid the way they have the stops in Eltingville. They have the S89 stopping at Hylan, Koch, SIR station, Katan, and ETC, and the S79 stopping at Hylan, SIR station, Genesee, and ETC. They should be having them make the same exact stops in that area. At the very least, they should move the Genesee stop over to Katan Avenue. You have one limited stopping at one stop, and the other limited stopping at the next stop. If somebody wanted to give themselves the maximum number of options, they'd have to wait in the middle and run back and forth between stops. NX Express Posted August 28, 2012 Share #77 Posted August 28, 2012 Why doesn't the S79 pseudo-SBS just go Hylan-SIR-ETC? It's faster and more efficient.
checkmatechamp13 Posted August 28, 2012 Share #78 Posted August 28, 2012 Coverage. They don't want a whole portion of the neighborhood to be left without a stop. If you live near Genessee, you'd be forced to take the S59 to reach the S79. At least here, you have the option of walking. It's the same thing on Hylan Blvd.

79MetroExtraMD Posted August 29, 2012 Share #80 Posted August 29, 2012 Digital Recorders right. We have those in all are NABI's. I preferred them over Clever Devices, even before I moved over here. This was actually Siemens (now Trapeze). Another failed GPS project that kinda had some potential.

Just like the way the M15 SBS started, they'll wrap buses before SBS and use them in service for the time being.

checkmatechamp13 Posted August 30, 2012 Share #86 Posted August 30, 2012 I'm still wondering why the bus lane is offset like that. It's not like anybody's going to be parking along that part of Richmond Avenue. When I took the S89 a couple of days ago, we actually got that bus lane all to ourselves. S78 via Hylan Posted August 31, 2012 Share #92 Posted August 31, 2012 Maybe some already know this, but there is another code for the S79 SBS: 6796 = +Select Bus Service+ HYLAN BLVD/CLOVE RD Most likely for school trippers.
checkmatechamp13 Posted August 31, 2012 Share #93 Posted August 31, 2012 BTW, the new S59 & S78 schedules are out. For the S78, it looks like they added a few short-turns (St. George-Richmond Avenue) later in the evening on weekends. For the S59, there were basically no changes except for some short-turns (SI Mall-Hylan Blvd) in the early-morning hours. Hmmm, for $300,000, you'd think they'd add more service. XcelsiorBoii4888 Posted September 1, 2012 Share #97 Posted September 1, 2012 4245-4277 will be the buses wrapped for SBS. 33 buses for S79 SBS...makes sense.
FamousNYLover Posted September 2, 2012 Share #98 Posted September 2, 2012 I don't think local buses are allowed to use the bus lanes, as I never see M15 LCL's using the SBS lane on First and Second Avs... Any buses are allowed to use bus lane.
