twilson1160 Posted March 22, 2016 Share #476 Posted March 22, 2016 I highly doubt they're gonna scrap that bus because of that. The bus driver couldn't even open the front so they had to get the firefighters to open the door
MysteriousBtrain Posted March 22, 2016 Share #477 Posted March 22, 2016 The bus driver couldn't even open the front so they had to get the firefighters to open the doorThat doesn't mean it automatically gets retired. Most buses in accidents are able to get fixed up before returning to service.Unless we hear more info about 3158, it is NOT scrap.
Cait Sith Posted March 22, 2016 Share #478 Posted March 22, 2016 Lord have mercy. There was no implication of it going to scrap. It's not going to scrap anyway. Chill. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Fresh Pond Posted March 22, 2016 Share #479 Posted March 22, 2016 The bus driver couldn't even open the front so they had to get the firefighters to open the door Means nothing. Look at 6372, ran face first into a building. The entire front 1/3 of the bus was cut off and replaced and is back in service.

mac5689 Posted March 22, 2016 Share #481 Posted March 22, 2016 The bus driver couldn't even open the front so they had to get the firefighters to open the door According to the news report I heard this morning that was because the accident bent the frame which prevented the driver from being able to open the door. I don't think that means that the bus will be scrapped I mean the doors can be replaced, I'm sure the MTA has buses they can salvage doors from, and depending on how server the frame was damaged it can probably be repaired or replaced.

It'll probably get the 1205 treatment. That's nothing compared to what 3000 went through when it got involved in an accident with a garbage truck. That whole front end was smashed in and it's been rebuilt. The media never reports anything properly. That front end is fixable. I'll hear back from my sources about the actual fate of this bus when information is available. The last thing you wanna believe is the media's way of explaining how bad the bus was damaged, because they always make things sound worse than it appears to be.
