In the event you need it, here is the updated Notice of Examination. Just note that page five comes after page eight of the PDF document.

If you wish to find out your list number, click here and type either your last name or the exam number into the search box located on the top right hand side of the screen.

Next, if you need help getting your Class B Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com. Remember, the multiple-choice exams that you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement. If you would like and/or need more information into obtaining your Commercial Driver's License (CDL), click here.

When you are ready to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles, click here to make a reservation for yourself.

The Proposed Answer Keys for Exams 2611, 2612, 2613, 2614 and 3601 can be viewed on this webpage.

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You do not have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

Good luck!!

Good morning,

Below was the response I received from the exams unit via email regarding the status of the hiring process.

"At this time, NYC Transit will not be hiring provisional Bus Operator. We expect the list to be established for Exam # 2611 within the next two to three months. Once the list is established, you will receive a letter in the mail with your results."

This isn't in compliance with the NOE which everyone applied to. I guess it's the long game with all 6 tests for TA.

I’m sorry but what does the highlighted mean? I’m unfamiliar with this career side.

I took exam 2612 and scored in the high 90’s. I just want to make sure that this is in fact a city position and that they should be hiring within the next 6 months or so. If anyone can shed some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning,

As of right now I have not heard anything back from day 1. I went down on September 1st as well. Let's see what comes through for the rest of this day.

Ok, thank you. I will post in here if I hear anything since we will both probably receive the email around the same time.

guys people well at least me, have been reiterating that the process takes a whole month. If you're in good standing, no moving violations, drug test excellent, filling out the application properly, have all req doc, medically fit. I mean asking the same questions over and over not going to speed up the process. Does it really matter when they call especially if you have to call out from work and spent 13hrs there. I dont know maybe the Gods have been smiling on me cuz Ive resigned and start the process over 3x and every time it still takes one month. Plus this is TA mentally prepare yourself to fill out paperwork all day and mentally prepare yourself to be drug tested twice within a month or drug tested and do medical on the same day. Mentally prepare yourself to fill out the same paperwork over and over, once, twice, three times over.

For exam 2611 there aren't any updates. Those of us who went on September 1st and 2nd are still waiting for our day two medical/Final processing. Mind you anything can change within a matter of moments.

You only took one BO exam? I took so many of them and sometimes they transferred my score to another exam so that i didnt have to take it. Thank God I took that many. Hey but i was there were you are now - in terms of waiting. Sh*t, they called me for OA again in august did the drug test and haven't heard a bleep concerning medical. Currently I am in training for TA. Just be patient trust me, I know they prefer people with permit but if you could maybe get your cdl if you can afford it. I think that's one less hurdle. You wont do the dmv road test. If you get it, all you have to  do is worry about passing with the MTA. For me, and this is just my opinion If i had the time and money I would have gotten my cdl a while back.

Anyone took exam 3601 on august 16? Still waiting to hear something back from them.

I believe you got the examination numbers confused. This past August, we took Exam # 2614, and I took Exam # 3601 within the past couple of weeks. As far as waiting to hear back, if you filled out your "Candidate's Record of Answers," I am personally waiting for them to post the Proposed Answer Keys on this webpage. As far as how long we have to wait until we get our official results, including our list numbers, I would say a full calendar year, give/take a few months, depending on the status of the other lists from Exams 2611, 2612 and 2613.

As far as waiting to hear back without being annoying, I would check this webpage on a regular basis, which you can do by either typing your last name or the examination number into the search box. As soon as the list is established, and before we even get our results in the mail, they will post all of the information on that webpage, including the total number of people that are on the list.

My apologies in regards to the late reply, however, if you are referring to the text that is in bold and in italics in this post, this is the story:

If you look at the original Notice of Examination, you will see that the agency was, at one point, anticipated on "hiring provisional Bus Operators approximately two months after each examination period ends." Unfortunately, they changed their mind in which these five (not six) examinations are going to become regular Civil Service Examinations, as per the updated Notice of Examination. Therefore, as per Civil Service rules, the agency has to give preference to those folks who are on the lists for Exam 4600, followed by Exam 7612, followed by Exam 9604, followed by Exam 9618, followed by Exam 2611, and then Exam 2612.

However, if you look at this webpage, and if you type "2611" into the search box, you will see that the list for Exam 2611 was established this past July. Although, according to this post, they did not hire anyone off of Exam 2611 as of this typing. Therefore, it's a waiting game. Although this is a City position, will they hire off of Exam 2612 within the next six months? My educated guess: No. Hopefully within the next six months they will establish the list for Exam 2612, however, only time will tell.

Sorry...

Unfortunately, I have some bad news to share:

According to this post from the Bus Operator 9618 thread, the agency will not be hiring any more Bus Operators until the first quarter of the 2023 calendar year, which can be anytime between January 3rd and March 31st, 2023. As I stated in my previous post, which can be found right above this one, since this is for a Civil Service Position, the agency has to give preference to the people who are on the lists for Exam 4600 (if they decide to extend it for another year), Exam 7612, Exam 9604, Exam 9618, Exam 2611, and then Exam 2612.

Therefore, although they will probably and most likely not hire off of Exam 2612 in between now and March of 2023, hopefully the agency will establish the list for Exam 2612 during this time frame. However, only time will tell.

Sorry @Nico718. Although I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I strive to be as accurate as possible whenever I can, based on the posts of other members.

Just received a call to report Monday for pre employment/lab. I did the pre employment/lab already on September 1st. I’m guessing this is for a second lab since the first probably expired. Make sure you check your emails.

They will probably do lab and medical same day and rush you in to the December 4th class.

Well my list number is 3xx guess they will get to me in another 2-3 years.

My list number for the same examination is also in the 300's, and, if I have to take an educated guess, I would say they will call us within the next three to six months, maybe sooner. Here are the reasons why, at least from my prospective:

-First, when we get the initial e-mail, in which they will ask us to fill out this pre-employment packet, not everyone is going to respond.

-Second, not everyone is going to either have their Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) or Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) with the "P" (Passenger) Endorsement and no other disqualifying restrictions, such as "L," "N1" or "N2." I've personally seen people turned away because of this. For those of you who live in New York, if you want to see the full list, click here and scroll to the bottom of the second page. In addition, you cannot have more than two [2] accidents on your abstract and less than four [4] points on your abstract.

(If you need help getting your CLP, refer to the instructions within the blue box towards the top of the webpage.)

-Third, not everyone is going to pass the drug screening, the physical and final processing. Back in 2014, I got diagnosed with something, and, since I failed the 10-Day Training Session back then, I haven't seen the specialist for this "diagnosis" in years, which no one else seems to notice!!

-Finally, not everyone is going to pass the 10-Day Training Session. And for those who do not pass the 10-Day Training session, as I learned the hard way within the past 2 to 3 years, the Department of Buses will produce a memorandum, without the applicant's knowledge, in which, according to the last sentence, with the exception of a typographical error, "are not recommended for rehire in any (other) title." On top of that, with the fact that the people who failed the 10-Day Training Session can not try again for five [5] years, which is mentioned in this post towards the bottom, you'll see how hard and challenging it is, when this entire country is short on Commercial Drivers to begin with. Just play around on Indeed, the results are self-explanatory.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Good luck!!
