MHV9218 Posted November 17, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2014 Thought I'd put a thread up so we can keep track as these go along, cause it's happening fast. 5220-5249 are the buses to receive new signs over time, and things are going sequentially-ish so far. NEW SIGNS as of November 17: 5220-5222, 5226
Eric B Posted November 18, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 18, 2014 Now those were the ones with those newest flipdots with the LED's that were almost as good as pure LED's. So what are these new signs? Pure orange LED's? Why are they changing them?

So what are these new signs? Pure orange LED's? Why are they changing them? Those batches of RTS has TwinVision signs. Those are being replaced by Hanover LED's since the TwinVision signs keep freezing a lot, just like the Ulmer Park 5100's.
Eric B Posted November 18, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 18, 2014 So those are going to be the standard orange LED's, and with the thick alphanumeric characters? (looking at the Hanover site, that's one thing I see, though they have a lot of different stuff). Has anything else here already used Hanover? (that's not one of the names I've frequently seen). Fresh Pond Posted November 19, 2014 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2014 Might as well make a list of all of them lol 5105-5117, 5119-5124, 5220-5222, 5226, 5234, 9444 all had their TwinVision signs (sans 9444 with its standard Luminator) changed into the Hanover signs. Eric B Posted November 19, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 19, 2014 OK, to answer my question; I just saw 9444 the other day. (looks like the typical LED sign some RTS had already gotten for the past few years). Was wondering if that was one of the new ones being talked about, but only 5000's were mentioned previously. Fresh Pond Posted November 19, 2014 Share #8 Posted November 19, 2014 9444 was one of the first (either that or 5105) to get the Hanover sign. Still don't know what happened to the original sign
KingNas Posted November 24, 2014 Share #9 Posted November 24, 2014 Well I guess we gonna have the RTS over here for a while then. Smh. I know most of the public loves RTS but as an operator, most of us try to stay away from them. Especially at Quill.
1995 Orion V CNG Posted November 24, 2014 Share #10 Posted November 24, 2014 I don't see the point of these add ons when the RTS's along with the Orion Vs , New Flyer D60HFs, and the 1st generation MCI D4500s are all going to retire in the next 2 to 4 years. NYCTA's Xcelsiors and LFS rigids had Hannover signs installed. LA's new Xcelsior CNG buses have the same signs as well (personally, I hate them). MTARegional Bus Posted November 26, 2014 Share #18 Posted November 26, 2014 Maybe they won't be retiring as soon as you think. Goes to show you that the RTS are the chuck norris of buses, they are built to last, just look at he orion's vii, those are starting to retire and they were built in 2004, The RTS in 1999, I won't be surprised if they last on till 2020.
