EE Broadway Local Posted January 15, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 15, 2011 If you could change one thing about each current subway line, what would you change? If I could, I would rehabilitate Chambers Street (J)/(Z) to resemble her original opening day newness.
Amtrak7 Posted January 15, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 15, 2011 runs all night to Lefferts (don't start a war over this!) express at night, local to South Ferry weekend service to Broad St 7 days a week

Roadcruiser1 Posted January 15, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 15, 2011 I would relocate the entire Astoria Elevated into a subway to appease the community, but of course I would build the subway line first before doing any demolishing. Also I would propose extending them to LaGuardia Airport.

IRT Bronx Express Posted January 15, 2011 Share #10 Posted January 15, 2011 (Mx) returns to South Brooklyn, but it runs along its pre-86 route to Brighton Beach returns (do NOT start a flame war on this!) Both, I like. Though the current should be renamed to MV, just for the hell of it. Then Middle Village residents would equally welcome the V designation. Roadcruiser1 Posted January 15, 2011 Share #17 Posted January 15, 2011 In reality the won't go to Coney Island. There isn't enough room there to let that happen. Though the could be extended to Avenue X as a local alongside the if the doesn't want to bring express service to the Culver Line anytime soon. It would provide the Culver Line with more train frequencies. Among other ideas I have I would make the Second Avenue Subway a four tracked subway line from 125th Street to Hanover Square. TrainFanatic Posted January 15, 2011 Share #18 Posted January 15, 2011 ...build an el from Broadway Junction to Cypress Hills via Jamaica Av with no stations in between. Having not to go through the "S" is a win in my book.
Roadcruiser1 Posted January 15, 2011 Share #19 Posted January 15, 2011 Here is another idea. Rebuild the Myrtle Avenue Elevated, and send it over the Manhattan Bridge via the center lane. There are three traffic lanes down there, and the train would cross the bridge using that area. Then it would run up First Avenue as an elevated line for a bit of nostalgia. 2 Train Master Posted January 15, 2011 Share #20 Posted January 15, 2011 In reality the won't go to Coney Island. There isn't enough room there to let that happen. Though the could be extended to Avenue X as a local alongside the if the doesn't want to bring express service to the Culver Line anytime soon. This is fantasy I believe therefore the will be Jamaica Yd & Pitkin Yd equipment, Av X/Jamaica, 207/Av X. I said Euclid(extended to Lefferts rsh hrs & weekends) therefore the is no longer going along Culver.
IRT Bronx Express Posted January 15, 2011 Share #21 Posted January 15, 2011 Just leave it a brown (Mx), and a orange . The job was already done there.Fix'd. Though many would welcome the (Mx)/(V)/(W)'s return.
Sam Posted January 15, 2011 Share #22 Posted January 15, 2011 I would extend the to Continental Avenue on Weekends and to 179th during rush hours restoring express service via Hillside. The would go down Brighton as the old 70(J) once did and restore express service on Broadway Brooklyn till Eastern Parkway. The crossover at 34th Street on the Broadway line would cease; either a train is local or express, not both!
TwoTimer Posted January 15, 2011 Share #23 Posted January 15, 2011 Dedicated 3 track service from 96-242 for peak direction express. Decreased headways. Shortened to Utica. Extended to New Lots all times. Midday express service. Express service runs later into the evening. Can it get to the west side already? Split into two distinct lettered services one serving Far Rock and the other Lefferts. ( Weekend service, longer hours to Bedford. Decreased headways. Longer Bronx express hours. A few more 179th trains. Culver express anyone? Decreased headways. Broad St on weekends. Decreased weekend headways. Weekend service past Myrtle. Broadway express from 34th. Express from 57th, up to 125th in my lifetime. Decreased headways. Resurrection on the 3rd day. Skip stop runs during a longer stretch of rush hour. Amtrak7 Posted January 15, 2011 Share #24 Posted January 15, 2011 A few more 179th trains. To create yet more confusion? Last time I rode a 179th , there were many people headed to AirTrain that were lost.
