I remember when... bus edtion

Q43LTD

I remember when the Q32 was split between CS and MJQ it would be awesome to see an RTS on that line again. I remember when the Q25/Q34 and Q65 went to Jamaica 160th Street instead of the LIRR station. I remember when the B12 served Liberty Ave.

I remember this:

A WHOLE LOT of RTS' on Manhattanville routes

The Bx6 under Amsterdam Depot

The M101 under Manhattanville Depot (Luckily I rode an Orion VI on the M101)

The Orion VII Gen-1 CNG's being brought in from Jackie Gleason to West Farms

New Flyer Artics popping up on the M101 in 2003

Being hype about the Orion VII Old Gen Hybrid arrivals

Being lucky to find an artic on the M100

The M3 via St.Nicholas Av after 155 Street

The M96 under Quill and Manhattanville

The M5 to Greenwich Village

Not knowing about other PBL other than Triboro Coach Corp.

There is more, but I rather not to extend this list.

I remember when the borough of Staten Island only had two operating depots, Castleton and Yukon.

I remember when the local bus fleet of the aforementioned depots was 90% Orion V's, with the few RTS' at Castleton being the exception.

I remember when Staten Is. only had Macks & GM old looks.

I remember when bus drivers looked like professionals. Unlike some of the slobs that are driving now with shorts, sneakers & shirts hanging out of their pants.

Nice videos. Unfortunately I never stuck around that long. Glad to see they were still going strong in '08.

The RTS left SI because they were wrecked not going strong lol. Service on Yukon routes used to be so unpredictable back in the RTS days.

I remember the Level II program for the 1999 Orion Vs around the time the S89 was introduced.

I remember when...

The M3 ran on Convent Av

The M60 terminated at 125/Lenox

You needed a Rapid Transit student pass to ride the Bx55

The 9000 series buses weren't RTS's, but Flxibles

The back doors of RTS's didn't have tape strips...you really had to push em open

The Q84 was the Q4A and went to 169/Hillside

Alcoa rims

Grummans on the Bx29 (now the Bx15)

The B46 went to Riis Beach

The O5 was new and had 5 digits (BTW does anyone have any pics of that?)

The QT from Queensbridge to LGA

The Q99 Jamaica Link Shuttle

The M103 on 59 Street

The M4 ran on Riverside Drive

The X23/X90 from 110th & 5th Avenue

TA RTS's had sealed tinted windows and white interiors

*Bx1 terminated at 138/Concourse before its extension to Mott Haven.

*Bx2 had LTD service until 2010, ran via 165 St/Melrose, terminated at The Hub before its extension to Mott Haven.

*Bx8 went to Country Club for 6 months in 2010.

*Bx11 terminated at Freeman St until 1998.

*Bx13's terminus was Yankee Stadium before going to 3 Av weekday mornings.

*The Bx14 route.

*Bx15 was entirely local until July 2013.

*Bx16 had 2 branches until 2008.

*Bx17 went to Pt Morris with the Bx33 until Sept 2005.

*Bx20 ran weekdays and Sat until 2010.

*Bx25 was the AM-only (i think) rush hour route until 2001 or 2002.

*Bx26 went to Fordham Center everyday (no wonder the Bx28 didn't go there Sundays...), and Bedford Pk was a part-time terminal.

*Bx31 terminated at Webster/233 until 2007.

*Bx34 ran weekdays only b/w 2010-2013.

*Bx39 terminated at Gun Hill Rd, and it was extended to Wakefield in 2010.

*Bx41 went to Bruckner Bl/Alexander, later cut back to 136 St and then The Hub in 2001/2002. It also went to Wakefield until 2010.

*Bx55 maps in bus stops pointing out the 161 St branch, even though it stopped going there sometime in 1995. They were replaced sometime last decade. Plus, the route itself went to Williamsbridge everyday until 2004, and evening/weekend services were removed in 2010.
