(2) Service runs from Harlem-148 street to Flatbush, and from 180 street to 241 Street

Northbound (2) trains skip Bronx Park East; the shuttle bus will serve the station.

(5) Service is suspended

Shuttle Buses will run from 180 street to Dyre Avenue, and from Harlem 145 street to 180 street

Wouldn't the (3) be suspended at this time?

It's fascinating to repeatedly see this obsession with sending the Q over queens blvd... <_<

It's not like it never happened before. =P

(B): Via Brighton Local.

(Q): Suspended.

Suspend the (Q) ? What? Run the (Q) to Atlantic or Prospect, suspend the (B) in Brooklyn as in most cases this scenario always happens.

Shit, I forgot to make service changes for the (N), (Q) and (R). My bad Quill Depot/jimmy7train.

Suspend the (Q) ? What? Run the (Q) to Atlantic or Prospect, suspend the (B) in Brooklyn as in most cases this scenario always happens.

+1

Exactly. Why would a part-time line be given priority over the full-time one?

Since the Broadway Line is the line affected, you'd rather have the (B) keep service. If you send the (Q) to Prospect Park, you'd have no service to Manhattan and all the people will go to the (S). If to Atlantic Avenue you would have delays single-tracking, and people will have to transfer anyways, instead of just keeping the (B), a one-seat ride to Manhattan. ALSO, since it would only take 2 hours, it'd have no effect whether a part-time or a full-time route runs, a route is a route. (Rerouting the (Q) via 6th Av wouldn't do because you would have to terminate it somewhere). Also just put the (Q) 's cars on the (B), so then frequency wouldn't be a problem.

Exactly..if it takes only 2 hours to fix the problem, suspending a part-time route is better than suspending a full time route.

Delays single tracking to Atlantic? You're concerned on delays from that? The scenario has bigger delays then a mere single track delay.

What you are forgetting is that the affected line is Broadway, not 6th Avenue. The (B) would still warrant a transfer no matter what to attend Broadway stops.

Quite frankly, I assume you don't ride the Brighton to see that suspending the (B) is daily routine whenever problems arise.

Anyway, this is what I had written for the next "What If" that sort of got overlooked in recent discussion:

Simultaneous power outages have knocked out the Columbus Circle Station (both upper west side trunk lines) and Union Square (Lexington Avenue, Broadway and 14th Street lines) stations.  This is expected to last at least eight hours and is expected to affect PM rush hour. Reroute accordingly!

Due to flooding at Queens Plaza, there is no service along the Queens blvd line from Forest Hills to Queens Plaza. The Astoria and Flushing Lines are becoming overcrowded. This will take a week to fix because of platform damages. Reroute lines in Queens and add extra service where needed.

This assume the areas southwest of Queens/Queensboro plaza are not affected by this and would truly be an "all hands on deck" situation:

LIRR cross-honors Metrocards between Penn Station and Jamaica.

(7) runs maximum possible service at ALL TIMES (with express service late nights and weekend).

Late nights and weekend: Some express trains terminate/begin at Junction Boulevard OR Mets-Willets Point and some local trains terminate/begin at 111th Street.  Express trains from Manhattan run until 3:00 AM, except Friday night-Saturday morning when it runs from Manhattan until 5:00 AM.

Weekend: Express service runs to Manhattan from 5:00 AM-5:00 PM, from Manhattan 5:00 PM Saturday-5:00 AM Sunday and 5:00 PM Sunday-3:00 AM Monday.

(E) runs in two sections:

Chambers Street, Manhattan to Court Square (23rd-Ely), Queens

71st-Continental to Jamaica Center, Queens

Shuttle buses operate between Court Square and 71st-Continental with additional shuttle service between 74th-Roosevelt and 71st-Continental.

(F) runs in two sections:

Coney Island, Brooklyn to 21st-Queensbrige, Queens

71st-Continental to 179th Street, Queens

Shuttle buses operate between 21st-Queensbridge and 71st-Continental with additional shuttle service between 74th-Roosevelt and 71st-Continental.

Extra (G) trains operate between Court Square, Queens and Church Avenue, Brooklyn as needed.

(J) and (Z) operate skip-stop service in both directions from 5:00 AM-Midnight to encourage passengers at or near Jamaica Center (E) stations to take the (E) to Sutphin Boulevard and change to the (J) or (Z) if possible ( (Z) temporarily becomes a full-time line during this) with the line operating at rush hour service levels during those hours.

Late nights: (J) is re-routed via the (M) to West 4th and via the (C) to 145th Street, where it terminates (Shuttle train operates between Essex Street and Broad or Chambers Street).

Weekend: (J) and (Z) operate skip-stop as if it were rush hour in both directions from 5:00 AM-Midnight and in Manhattan run via the (M) to West 4th and then (C) to 145th Street to encourage passengers who normally take the (E) to midtown to use this route where possible and take pressure off the shuttle buses (Shuttle train operates between Essex and Chambers Street).

(M) runs via (F) between 47-50 and 21st-Queensbridge Plaza at ALL TIMES (including nights and weekends), where it terminates (operating Metropolitan Avenue to 21st-Queensbridge 24/7).

(N) and (Q) operate to Ditmars Boulevard at all Times.

Assuming the Montague tunnel is out, (R) at all times runs as follows:

In Brooklyn as it currently does on weekdays EXCEPT it runs to Court Street at ALL TIMES.

In Manhattan and Queens from Whitehall Street to 57th Street-7th Avenue (weekdays) OR Ditmars Boulevard, Astoria (late nights and weekends).

If needed, shuttle buses run from Queensboro Plaza to 71st-Continental.
