Speaking of stuck trains what happens in a medical emergency? Does that person have to wait till train moves ?

If the train is stuck, then yes - trains are not concerned with whether or not someone needs medical attention.

Service Change

There is no (7) train service in either direction between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Times Sq-42 St.

Some Manhattan-bound trains will end at 74 St-Broadway or Queensboro Plaza

These service changes are because of because of switch problems at 34 St-Hudson Yards.

Expect delays in (7) train service in both directions.

Service Change

Northbound (N) and (R) trains are running express from Canal St to Times Sq-42 St because of signal problems at 49 St.

Expect delays on (N) , (Q) and (R) trains.

Service Change

There is no (N) train service in both directions between 57 St-7 Av and Astoria-Ditmars Blvd because of an investigation at Queensboro Plaza.

As an alternative, take Q66, Q69, Q100, Q101 and Q102 bus service stopping at nearby (N) stations.

-----------------------------------------------------------

@ The first One:

(N) and (R) trains are not going express. That might have been the way it was earlier, but not now. Instead, (E)(N)(R) trains are all on the local tracks delaying themselves.

Instead of that, perhaps the (E) and (N) should have gone express instead, between Canal Street and 57 Street. This way, the (E) does not have to merge with the (Q) later on after being delayed, and the (N) can also avoid those delays. Yes, more merging exists, but it doesn't clog the local service along the Broadway Line. Especially considering the second service change, in which (N) trains are running to 96 Street (despite not being mentioned), it would make stuff flow much easier.

Was the weekend work suppose to go until 5 AM or not?

Service Change  Posted: 08/06/2018  1:23AM

(N) train service has resumed between Queens and Manhattan.

Southbound (N) trains are running express from Astoria Blvd to Queensboro Plaza.

(N) trains stop at the upper-level platforms in both directions at Queensboro Plaza.

These service changes are in effect while our crews repair a rail condition at Queensboro Plaza.

UPDATE 1:

Service Change  Posted: 08/06/2018  2:04AM

Southbound (N) trains are stopping along the (Q) line from DeKalb Av to Coney Island-Stillwell Av because of switch problems at DeKalb Av.

Customers can expect delays on (N) and (Q) train service.

The (N) cannot catch a break!

UPDATE 2:

Service Change  Posted: 08/06/2018  2:15AM

Southbound (N) trains are running express from Astoria Blvd to Queensboro Plaza.

There is no (N) train service between Lexington Av-59 St and Queensboro Plaza.

These service changes are being made while our crews repair a rail condition at Queensboro Plaza.

For service between Queens and Manhattan, take (e) (f) (7) train service.

This might end up impacting the AM rush if this problem persists for just the right amount of time.

Southbound (4) and(5) trains are running local from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to Franklin Av because of a passenger in need of medical assistance at Franklin Av.

Expect delays in (2) , (3) , (4) and (5) train service.

Delays  Posted: 08/06/2018  5:10PM

The BMT has melted down.

Also, I really hate these new vague service alerts they send out now:

There is extremely limited service between Manhattan and Queens on the (N), (R) and (W) lines because of a water condition between Queensboro Plaza and Lexington Av/59 St. We have crews on the scene now investigating the cause.

Then that changed to include...

Expect reroutes and delays in both directions.

Well, the MTA doesn't bother post the changes, but here's what's happening:

(N) trains are running to 96 Street

(R) trains are running via 63 Street.

UPDATE 9:40 PM

Some (R) trains are running on the (D) from Atlantic to Rockefeller. Because of the service change this evening, these trains will have to run via 63 Street.

This is bad, because (E) trains are now joining the (F) in both directions from Roosevelt to Second Avenue, and it's backing up service a bit.

----------------------------------------------------

Service Change

8 Av bound (L) trains will arrive on the Canarsie-bound tracks from Bedford Av to 14 St because of an NYPD investigation at Bedford Av.

Expect delays in (L) train service in both directions.

Oh, the joy of figuring out which of the 14 Street stations the (L) will be single-tracking to.

There is extremely limited service between Manhattan and Queens on the (N) , (R) and (W) lines because of a burst pipe between Queensboro Plaza and Lexington Av/59 St.

See a station agent for a courtesy pass for continuing train or bus service. Consider using the (E) , (F) , (7) , or (M) lines until we can restore regular train service.

What's not on the site:

(N) trains are operating over the (Q) to 96th St. Some (R) trains are operating via 63rd St, or ending at 96th St. (W) trains are all over the dam place. Some (E) and (F) trains are running local on QBL.

There is no service in either direction between Manhattan and Queens on the (N) or (W) lines because of a burst pipe between Queensboro Plaza and Lexington Av/59 St. (R) trains are being rerouted over the (F) line between Lexington Av/63 St and Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av. There is shuttle train service operating in both directions between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza.

I would think to just before Union Square, where there is a crossover.

Re: Service alerts

I've noticed very different service alert notices depending on the time of day. Sometimes you'll get the most verbose service alert known to man, while at other times, it seems like they're being charged by the letter, hence the extremely vague notices. I don't know if it's because the comms team is unaware of the situation as well, but regardless, consistency needs to be just as important as conveying the relevant information to riders.

I think they wait a couple of minutes to actually update the service change with what's happening cause they talk with dispatchers and such to have routes operate on another line, etc.

There is no (Q) service in both directions between 57 St-7 Av and 96 St because of switch problems at 96 St. See a station agent to receive a courtesy pass for continuing train or bus service. Consider transferring between the nearby (4) , (5) , or (6) lines and the (N) , (R) , and (W) lines at Lexington Av/59 St.

I wonder if it's actually switch problems ie problems with the trackage. The switch at 96th street is new.
