Message added by +Young+

BUS OPERATOR #4600

List Status Update: 1/16/22 The list for this specific exam has been extended to January 6th, 2024.

Training: See the DOB New Hire FAQ topic for more information.

Next Scheduled Class: You will be scheduled with candidates of more recent Bus Operator exams (which are pinned), so check those threads for more information.

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You don't have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

For those who will be reporting to Livingston Street in the future, click here for the pre-employment packet and click here or for extra pages of the CPD-B booklet (if you need them) for final processing.

Next, for those of you who are still waiting, you folks might want to check out this and this YouTube video. In addition, if you need help getting your Class B CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com which is free!! Remember, the multiple-choice tests you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement.

Finally, if you need to make an appointment at the DMV to take the multiple-choice examinations for your Commercial Learner's Permit, click here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We're here to help each other.

Good luck!

Just got back. What an easy test. Total common sense test based on passages, etc. It was 2 hours, 60 questions. I studied landmarks, points of interest, DMV/CDL rules like crazy for nothing. I guess they need a lot of people cause most people should score high on it. There was a question or two that was worded strange and didn't have a decent answer in my opinion. Anyway, answer key will be posted January 23 2014 on www.mta.info.

For those taking it tomorrow, don't assume what our test will be yours. It should be similar, but you never know. Good luck, although if it's like ours, you won't even need it.

Lots of reading comprehension. Almost more than 1/3 of the questions. Make sure to read the map accordingly. The copies are not clear and hard to read some of the fine print of street names and land marks/business.  See everyone in the next step. Now I need the info on the boss to study for.

Those who think the study class was a waste, its still great info to help you out in the future pertaining to the job.

Cant wait to drive.

what should be the passing score if only 60 questions ?

Passing is 70 from what I've read. I think a lot of people pass this one. Also heard mta needs b /o due to retirements in next few years. Would anyone know or have an idea what would be the minimum you could get wrong to pass this exam?

Well, you need a 70 to pass the exam, which means a minimum of 42 correct answers (since 42 divided by 60 equals 0.70, convert that to a percentage would equal 70%) to pass the exam. In order to pass the exam, you must have 18 wrong answers max.

When comparing your answers to the proposed answer key online, each question is worth 1 & 2/3 points (since 100 divided by 60 = 1.67). Therefore, multiply the number of correct answers you have times 1.67 (or 1.66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666667, depending on how many decimal places your calculator can hold) to get your score. Don't forget to round to two places (eg 87.50, 91.25, etc).
