Calvin Posted July 16, 2018 Share #1452 Posted July 16, 2018 However, that unit is still in-service. Not scrapped. Just now, King Transit said: There's #0023 as the 2018 MCI CRT LE has now moved Charleston Depot.

Of course it's not a unit to be scrapped, it's a recent demo bus as a test for those 45ft commuter buses in 2019-2020 😤. This MCI will have at least 3 more depots to be tested out of. This thread is for retired and scrapped buses.

Scrapped and written off. However it will remain on property as it was involved in a fatal accident. Similar situation to the LFSA that has not returned to service in years and it's still on property. However, unlike the LFSA, the XD40 is reportedly beyond repair

A handful of LFSA and other newer buses were put in the same area were there for months before returning to service.
Novabus 5000 Posted July 16, 2018 Share #1459 Posted July 16, 2018 8933 and 8994 have been removed off the roster and driven to ECH Scrap. 9027 is the last standing unit at JFK and should be going soon.

So until it has been put on the scrap list, I treat it as such.

Was that bus also written off?

It happened in 2014 so 5299 was around two years old at the time.
MHV9218 Posted July 17, 2018 Share #1475 Posted July 17, 2018 Yeah, I was thinking about that of the three factors (damage, investigation, and stigma of death), the third might be the most relevant. Keep in mind 9666 never saw service again.
