The bus did actually catch on fire yesterday . On Northern Blvd it’s on the citizens app and other passerby’s  whom filmed it, uploaded it on their YouTube pages. Now , whether it’s scrapped , or not that hasn’t been confirmed, but the bus is 12 plus years old.

Their days in Manhattan and Bronx (NYCB) are limited. Brooklyn Division will be a few buses shy to push out every NG, unless they are given XD40s from JA, but idk if that's going to happen. CS Depot is allotted 079 buses from the new order (they have 091 NG Hybrids). Idk if they're going to keep ~012 of them or get other replacements or whatever's going to happen. I can see QV being the last NYCT depot to store NG Hybrids, but at this rate, it's impossible to know for certain.

They’re getting newer XDs once MCH is done with their order. Then you will see NGs go either to MTABC or being retired. Once all of the remaining OGs, of what’s left of them retired, the 3800s and 3900s that operated in Manhattan are next. Although some have already been transferred to JFK, they are not there for a long time, since these buses are aging.

Just as I had predicted. The August wipeout of Old Gens in Manhattan is beginning to take shape.

This is reminding me of July/August 2019, when the last of the 6400s were being retired in Queens Village, and the 6600s in Manhattanville also. Those 6600s were also gone by September that year.

About 3 units in each depot stuck around for a few weeks longer. I remember 6432 being the last one out of QV for a while and believe it made it's last run on the Q27, something I witnessed and missed it despite running for it. 🙄 History is repeating itself again, and before we know it the same fate for the Next Gens.

(Apologies for being off topic, may this discussion continue in another thread 😁)

I don't get the point of keeping buses in small amounts. Manhattanville could send the remaining five units to Michael J. Quill or Mother Clara Hale in exchange for 2008 or 2009 NG Hybrids.

Most of the time, a few units stay either for driver preference or, in most cases, as back ups for the active fleet as is the case for 2910 at College Point.

Can't forget 639 and 647, which outlasted the entire fleet by months and months and even had to be renumbered to keep in service.

The last 6600-series Orion VII Hybrid (not in the #6690-#6699 range) I ever saw from Manhattanville, was on the M10 in June 2019 (the day I graduated High School).

That bus will be on legal hold for a good while, but by the time that's over, I would expect that only the MTA Bus O7 first generations are still around.

6765 isn't retired just yet. It's still alive and running, last ran on the M7 4 hours ago
