I'm bored so I might as throw in an idea or two.....

(W) Brooklyn and Queens extension to Metropolitan Ave via a new elevated line on Myrtle Ave between Metrotech and Myrtle Ave-Broadway.

- Jay Street-MetroTech

- Portal South side of Myrtle Ave at Fort Greene Park across from the housing.

- Vanderbilt Avenue

- Bedford Avenue

- Union Avenue (connect to the (G) at Myrtle-Willoughby Avs

- Myrtle Avenue-Broadway (transfer to (J)(M)(Z) )

- all stops to Metropolitan Ave replacing to (M) which goes to Canarsie via Broadway Junction with or replaces the (L)?

Another one would be to restructure the Crosstown (G) line to LaGuardia Airport via the BQE, North of Lorimer Street, Chicago style, maybe. The Franklin Avenue Shuttle would be extended North of Fulton Street and merge with the (G) at Nostrand Avenue and replaces the (G) between Lorimer Street and Court Square, renamed the Crosstown-Greenpoint Shuttle, service between Prospect Park and Court Square.

Stops via BQE:

- Morgan & Meeker (B48 new terminal?) B24

- 48 Street B24, Q39, Q67

- 58 Street Q67

- Queens Blvd Q18,

- Broadway-Roosevelt Avenue (Transfer to (7)(E)(F)(M)(R) and if this does happen in this lifetime, the Triboro RX across the platform)

- Astoria Blvd

- LaGuardia Airport (located under the cetral parking lot)

Meh, I don't know, guys. What do you think?

Those of you who saw my Flatbush Avenue (2)(5) Terminal reconfiguration in this thread a while back, forget I said anything about it. Because I understand that Nostrand Avenue is far too narrow for the Flatbush Avenue Terminal itself to be four-tracks instead of two. Plus, I don't think there's a need for tail tracks south of the station either. Much cheaper for Brooklyn IRT trains to be stored at Livonia Avenue yard rather than building tail tracks south of Flatbush Avenue Terminal and/or east of Utica Avenue. Either way, as someone told me a while back in this thread, Flatbush Avenue Terminal was never intended to be a terminal. It was always meant to be extended, but it never had due to $$$. Therefore, Nostrand Junction (or Rogers Junction, I don't care which name is actually use, don't matter anyway) is all that needs to be reconfigured. Or should I say that it should have been just like the merging and diverging south of 59 Street-Columbus Circle (A)(C)(B)(D) from the get-go.

Therefore, in my world, the limited (2) & (5) runs to and from Utica/New Lots will continue to operate just like in the real world.

My idea will be extending the (6)<6> to Co-op City/Bay Plaza in the Bronx and to Utica Avenue in Brooklyn at the same time extending the (4) to New Lots Avenue 24/7; having the (Q) in two branches just like the (A) route 1 : Via 2nd Avenue local, Broadway Exp via Manhattan Bridge, Brighton local; route 2: To Astoria-Ditmas Blvd. Extending the (7)<7> or (L) to Secaucus Junction or Newark. Extending the (A) in to The Bronx to the area of North Riverdale, extend the (2) to Mt Vernon in Westchester County and the (5) to Pelham in Westchester County, extend the (4) to Yonkers; extend the (R) to Staten Island; extend the (3) to JFK Airport, extend the (N)  &   (Q) to LaGuardia Airport; extend the (F) to Mineola as well the (E), (J) or (Z) to areas like Locust Manor, Rosedale and Valley Stream and finally the Rockaway Beach shuttle (S) to Coney Island via the Marine Parkway Bridge and Shore Parkway and meeting with the (B) & (Q) between Brighton Beach and Sheepshead Bay

My idea is to extend the existing (G) Line to Astoria.

21st St - Astoria

Ditmars Blvd.

Hoyt Ave.

30th Ave.

Broadway

36th Ave - Ravenswood

21st St. - Queensbridge (F)

47th Ave - Van Alst

The existing Court Sq. (G) is extended to Queensboro Plaza and made a separate extension much like the (A) to Ozone Park.

This was mine to Astoria:

(G) runs as it does now to Court Square, then goes elevated, coming out of portal between Court Square and Queens Plaza, stopping at a new elevated station above the existing Queens Plaza station (with transfers to the (E) and (R).  The (G) then joins the (N) / (W) after Queens Plaza and makes all current stops to Astoria.

It's been a long time since I last posted here. Anyways...

Have the South Ferry loop open during rush hours. This is in-case any delays occur in the new station during some type of event. Also (if this is possible), send one (6) train to South Ferry during the AM & PM rush.

They aren't going to keep the loop station open "just in case" anything happens. And they sure as hell aren't sending the (6) down there during peak periods. Disregarding the tremendous potential for delays having all three Lexington Ave trains on the same tracks will cause, there just isn't any real need for the (6) to run down to the Battery. Local riders can transfer to the (4) or (5) for continuing service.

When the island platform at South Ferry reopens, they will close the loop station and those tracks will only be used for reroutes and car moves.

LIRR Bay Ridge line ( Central Line )

2 tracks electrified for Rail  600-650V nominal 3rd Rail system

1 freight.

Central line wouldn't share any trackage with standard subway Rolling stock. And could run modified NTT’s or M7/M9 Rolling stock to allow use of the line under FRA guidelines or and or possibly the Hellgate Bridge.

Bottlenecks and cross agency scheduling may or may not allow the possibility of Bronx expansion.

It makes me wish it was possible but

Extend the (D) Train (IND Concourse Line) to Co-Op City (It was actually an original plan back in the 1930s/40s) with 4 new stops

Extend the (6) To Orchard Beach

@RailRunRob Love that Idea. very similar to Triboro RX.

@Union Where did you get that track map? There are ones for the full Archer Av extension somewhere that look very similar...

There are many on this website taken from old Electric Railroaders' Association Bulletins.

http://tramway-null.blogspot.com/

I have posted some track maps in the past

Yes. Thanks  :)

your welcome!

Just did some reading on the RX this really would be a fair easy investment on the existing infrastructure. Could also link the old Rockaway Line in as well. How you upload files? want to uploads some tracksmaps and some possible timetable's for headways.

Here's my basic overall plan for the Rockaway Branch. A new C division so to speak

The Rockaway Branch would share it’s trackage with Queens Blvd Local trains. From Howard Beach to Yellowstone Blvd. As well as IND Fulton trains from Howard Beach to Rockaway Blvd.
The Rockaway Rolling stock would consist of modified NTT or M7/M9 cars like it’s sister line the Central Line.
2,3,4 tracks  600-650V nominal 3rd Rail system

Possible routes and short turns

  • LGA to JFK via Rockaway Branch
  • JFK to Jackson Heights
  • JFK to Co-Op City Via HellGate
