Question : I watched the video showing the R46 Q in service. What do the blue diamonds alongside the number boards signify ?

To represent (A) line cars but that's ignored now on all the 46 subway cars.

--------------

Also, 7116-7120, 7121-7130 Jerome Av to E. 180 St

I was hoping that those R142s would shift to East 180th Street/239th Street yards. Now the final assignments should hopefully be like this:

(2) : 6301-6720 (42 trains) (shared with (5) )

(5) : 6721-7130 (41 trains) (shared with (2) )

(4) : 7131-7180, 1101-1250 (20 trains) (including R142As 7591-7810, total trains goes up to 42)

This would provide better (2) and (5) train service, and overall better service on the Lex and 7th Avenue lines.

I believe those were cars marked with the blue diamonds to replace the R32s on the (C) before the R44s were prematurely retired and the remaining R32s stayed.

Yea 207th was supposed to get 5798-6121, 6206-58 & 6122-6204.we're gonna stay at pitkin

Good, they're loosing R46's as I thought. I wonder if they'll only loose 6.5 sets though.

I wonder if they’ll run more R32’s on the (A) and Jamaica sends back some R160’s over to Coney Island. wasn’t the (A) line the one with the car shortage though ?

It will be six R32's on the (A) from what I heard.

They're only moving six R46's to Jamaica as I predicted while the rest stays to increase spare factor.

I think Jamaica would give up 2-3 R160's to Coney to bump out the R68's that concourse lost 2 years ago. But so far no R160 has left.

There's an R42 set in CIY as well. It's probably for storage.

Do you happen to know which R42 set it is?

We have the first official update to the car assignments since November. Here are the highlights and as always, remember the cars assigned to a line may not necessarily reflect what's operating in service at any given time.

The 32s are now split almost evenly between the (A) and (C) lines. The 42s are presently not assigned to any line. (J) service is being run by means of the 160s and 179s according to the latest assignments. What that means for the 42s' continued operation is unclear at the moment. The random 46s previously assigned to the (C) have been shifted to other lines, as have the 160s, but everyone knows about that one. On the A-side, the only major change is a slight increase in the number of trains required for the (7) line.

They use R42s as rush hour (Z) in the morning, I am not sure about Friday but I have seen R42s on Mon-Thurs morning for months.
