Fresh Pond Posted May 1, 2011 Share #101 Posted May 1, 2011 Wirelessly posted via (BlackBerry8520/5.0.0.900 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100) Took the M34 today, out of six buses only three were 3800s. I rode 3800, but 6744, 3946, and 5232 were all also running on the M34. Most likely, those were put-ins for rush hour. There's only 30 buses with GPS on them, and whenever one is down for repairs (or if a non-M16/M34 driver pulls it out), you'll see them

I wonder if they added service on the M34 due to the Auto Show?

Fresh Pond Posted May 1, 2011 Share #104 Posted May 1, 2011 Its good to ride a RTS on the M60 Its even better when said bus slips out of 1st gear Its the best when the driver of said bus has a lead foot
Santa Fe via Willow Posted May 1, 2011 Share #105 Posted May 1, 2011 Should it be mandated that NYCDOT make ALL (NYCT) bus stops sheltered?
Grand Concourse Posted May 2, 2011 Share #106 Posted May 2, 2011 This afternoon, I saw a 965x bus being towed down Flatbush av. dunno what happened to it. Just caught me off guard.
FamousNYLover Posted May 2, 2011 Share #107 Posted May 2, 2011 There are lots of bus stops without shelter including MTA Long Island Bus and WCDOT Bee-Line Buses.
4P3607 Posted May 2, 2011 Share #108 Posted May 2, 2011 Cuz they know that you like that bus so they did to to see your reaction actually because I think these buses have been stopped being repainted with the new scheme. Alot of buses out of LGA have been getting repainted, but only 4 have the new scheme. btw I remember a few months ago someone photoshopped an RTS with the new scheme... I forgot who.
Kingsbridge Bus Posted May 3, 2011 Share #109 Posted May 3, 2011 I saw 7799 wrecked on the side where the left depot sicker was. They towed the bus away and put 8946 in it's place

4P3607 Posted May 6, 2011 Share #111 Posted May 6, 2011 On the newer buses (i.e. the Orion VIIs and the Novabus LFSAs) there are announcements when the doors open and close. I know when the doors close the announcement is "Doors Closing", but for whatever reason I can't really make out the announcement when the doors are opening. Does anyone know what it is? "Touch Yellow tape to open doors". ----------------- 9871 is the greatest CNG bus ever! if anybody has rode it, that Motor sounds great! also, 3607 got repainted not just with the old scheme, but with the NYCT scheme! Theres a difference between the OG MTA bus & NYCT bus schemes; the MTA bus one has more black paint around the back door (on the exterior), while the NYCT buses have white there. 3607 has white!!!
trainfan22 Posted May 6, 2011 Share #112 Posted May 6, 2011 I got a VII CNG on both trips on the B8 today. The ride in the AM the rear vent was open... the outside sound + Inside sound acceleration at once = Foamtastic! There was also four VIIs back to back on the B11 today. Feels good man.
Fresh Pond Posted May 7, 2011 Share #113 Posted May 7, 2011 Crud, I got a NG on the B26 (3967) ...But I aint gonna lie, the Fresh Pond logo looks better on a black background...it brings out the orange in it without overpowering the dark blue

gtNovaBusRTS9369 Posted May 8, 2011 Share #115 Posted May 8, 2011 Just rode 6395, for whatever reason that bus has different windows than the other O7s. The windows open all the way, as in you can slide them back to where one piece completely overlaps another. If you can picture that, the windows open about two-three feet back. Discovered that leaning to push out the window and almost falling out of the bus...! Well at least the Orion VII OG's have slide open windows however for some reaosn the NG's don't. I wish they did though since the B/O's don't tend to turn on the A/C when needed at times. Anyhoo my story fo rthe past week: Both NovaBus RTS #9660 & Orion V #640 both shut off on me along with other passengers even though they were restarted over & moved on. I wonder if it was due to releasing the air-pressure too much to while the bus was kneeling.
PATCOman Posted May 9, 2011 Share #116 Posted May 9, 2011 I like the windows that open at the top better since a lot of air does not blow on me.
Joel Up Front Posted May 9, 2011 Share #117 Posted May 9, 2011 I thought the duck in the FP logo was a giant leaf when I was new to the bus system. My face when I found out it was a duck (and why KR kept calling the user "ducky"):
Fresh Pond Posted May 9, 2011 Share #118 Posted May 9, 2011 ]Lol about that name... The original name was "ducky pushcart" cuz of a picture I posted a while ago as a joke to the . I said their next generation of buses would look like this...
Grand Concourse Posted May 9, 2011 Share #119 Posted May 9, 2011 I like the windows that open at the top better since a lot of air does not blow on me. Ditto. I generally avoid sitting on seats next to open windows or close the window [if I can] as I hate the feel of the wind blowing on me as the bus is in motion.

Fresh Pond Posted May 10, 2011 Share #121 Posted May 10, 2011 Rode an LFS for the 1st time today...I approve of it  I have leg room and every single seat in the bus and my legs are long (unlike everything else where I can only sit in certain seats)

Grand Concourse Posted May 12, 2011 Share #124 Posted May 12, 2011 Finally got my first Nova LFS ride yesterday. B6, 8049. Got it just after missing riding RTS 9090 by a few seconds. Interior was pretty interesting - especially that single seat right behind the driver. It was totally strange. Would've taken more interior pics, but one woman was giving me strange looks, so i just took a few shots from the back and put the camera away before she went all psycho on me.
Joel Up Front Posted May 12, 2011 Share #125 Posted May 12, 2011 I don't know what the interiors of the city Orion V CNGs are like, but LI's Orion Vs have baby blue interiors with matching blue seats.. but the little partition by the door is normally white, while the operator's little area is black. A few buses have a black partition rather than a white one and it looks pretty damn cool.
