Culver Posted February 13, 2014 Share #11129 Posted February 13, 2014 I think the is done with the whole hybrid phase after finding out they aren't really as fuel efficient as they thought they were. As for the second part of your question, it's one of 2 things... If you was on one with the ZF transmission (I'm sure you know which ones they are), they naturally do that. If you was on an Allison one, then the driver was manually shifting the gears to get the most out of each gear. I get the hybrid thing, but the added stability of having a motor at each wheel of both mid and rear axles seems like a worthwhile benefit to go for on the artics. I didn't catch the bus number, unfortunately.

4P3607 Posted February 13, 2014 Share #11138 Posted February 13, 2014 It seems there is only one Orion V CNG left, 9905, and chances are you'll find it on the Q66. I'm checking ECH on Sunday.
mta B43 Posted February 13, 2014 Share #11139 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) 9848, 9889 and 9899 aren't at EC they're still in service. 9889 is at the CMF though. Edited February 13, 2014 by mta B43

tvega961 Posted February 14, 2014 Share #11141 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) SBS routes have to keep running artics even in this weather right? Most of the time they send 40 ft's or just suspend SBS overall. the M34 SBS they use artics regardless. College Point is running those buses until they no longer work. Look at 9915 it was ran until it finally gave up on the Q23. If one of those buses start to have problems it will be taken OOS and sent to scrap. So expect those remaining Orion CNG's to run until they have a problem.

E For Erica Posted February 14, 2014 Share #11145 Posted February 14, 2014 Well that's actually the term most in the industry use. Ahh ok. But I'm gonna miss the 4900's & 5000's when they retire. Which is most likley when MTA gets their order of XD40's & Novas.

mta B43 Posted February 14, 2014 Share #11148 Posted February 14, 2014 Yup 9849, and 9899 are probably waiting on better road conditions, 9889 is at CMF.
