From what I hear, this is the story on 9889: The bus is OOS due to engine failure. I hear they have a replacement engine for the bus but they don't want to put it in since they don't want to fund a bus that should have already been retired. The thing is, CP needs those buses for service (9899 made it's way out today, even though it should have been in the depot, reserved for training at Zerega). The chances of seeing 9889 run again are low.

Not quite, the loss of the Q19 and Q64 has increased the spare factor and the Q53 doesn't use as much buses as people would like to think. None of the CNGs are reserved for anything, they are all cycled through. If they were really needed, they would've fixed all of the issues with the remaining ones and send them out there.

So basically they are using them until they drop. I remember 9915 with it stalling out. It was sent straight to ECH scrap

Despite the Q53 going to CP, LGA is still roughly 20 or so buses short. They can't maintain them with the small space they have due to the renovations, so they sit oos until they get to the bus.

618 was on the Q18, and 187 on the Q33.

Talk about LaGuardia's maintenance problems lol...

This shortage at Manhattanville is definitely a lot worse than there's been in the past. Reason you can tell is that the RTSes sent over are running all day, and they're running on the full M5 (all the way up to the GWB), which hasn't had an RTS up there since 2010. Have to see if some of these buses stay the night like the QV/JA loaners did back in the day, cause this is more than the put-ins 126th has done before.

Could be seeing the temporary return of RTSes to Manhattanville.

That's why LGA doesn't need all them old RTS's which breakdown more often. If the shortage is a problem why can't some of CP express routes move back to LGA and CP takes more LGA local routes and gets some RTS's since CP can fuel them.

Wouldn't make much sense in the long run. LaGuardia would still have issues in the long run either way. CP getting diesels for local runs would be counterproductive since they had a huge majority of the CNG order for a reason.

As for the EXP routes, it's a good idea, but I doubt it would ever happen. But never say never. Deadhead times aren't long either, QM1/7s would be 11 minutes, QM2/20 would be 12 minutes, QM3s would be 16 minutes, QM4s would be 11 minutes, QM5/8s & QM6 would be 19 minutes. Don't have to speak about the rest since LGA originally had the QM10, 11 and 12.

-EDIT-

A lil something for the Orion V CNG fans.

I saw 5042? on the M5 last night near Columbus Circle.  Was shocked to see an RTS on the M5... The bus was out of 126th street depot too...Two abnormalities at once.

Manhattanville is going through a shortgae, so 126th St & MJQ sent some RTS to run on the MHV routes.

Lol... being upstairs in a building, looking out the window to see the top of a bus with nothing but 72 on top...

I assume it was 6372 cuz it had flipdots.

Nah, that's 6672, prolly just couldn't see the Luminators. Some other good ones...5212 is just 5 1, most of the 678x buses are missing a 7, and 6685 is numbered 6885 up top.
