SubwayGuy Posted September 28, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2011 Counter to the "best" threads...name express runs you think are the worst and why. RULE: Must be a current, existing service pattern. No historical service patterns are eligible and neither are "fantasy" service patterns based on existing, once existing, or non-existing track layouts. Mine (due to lack of speed - they don't save much time over the local): between Hunts Point and 138th/3rd (both directions) between Atlantic and Franklin (both directions) SOUTHBOUND between 125th and 59th (too many timers south of 86th Street)

Abba Posted September 28, 2011 Share #8 Posted September 28, 2011 He said it's because of lack of speed. As long as there is no trackwork or train traffic the downtown stretch is very fast.except for a drop after the turn.

Also the sucks on Fulton and 8th Avenue. my problem with the SB is that ridiculous timer at 36th st that basically forces everything to run at a crawl. They could have those trains coast in the same way they do coming into Atlantic.

B35 via Church Posted September 28, 2011 Share #15 Posted September 28, 2011 - Central Park West express {59th-125th}.... the express has a tendency to parallel the local at the same rate the local's going... especially heading downtown.... - Queens Blvd express {[Jackson Hgts ] - Queens Plz , 21st/QB } in either direction, it lags too much for my liking... you never move at a constant rate; intermittent movement.... it's annoying.... pjbr40 Posted September 28, 2011 Share #16 Posted September 28, 2011 the A train is the worst between chambers and 42 street. it only skip one stop in between each express station. the D and the N are getting worse between pacfic st and 36 when the train start crawling at prospect ave. gtNovaBusRTS9369 Posted September 28, 2011 Share #17 Posted September 28, 2011 Sometimes on 8 Av. Reason: Due to train traffic. Around the Concourse. Reason: Gets Slow As of late (Between Forest Hills 71-Av to Jackson Hits-Roosevelt Av & Union Tpke to Forest Hills 71 Av) late middays Manhattan Bound. Reason: Slower Speed than usual. On weekends skipping 49 av. I don't know why it's even a express if it skips only one stop. Reason: Useless

CenSin Posted September 28, 2011 Share #19 Posted September 28, 2011 Broadway express : only because it's infrequent enough that it saves no time on average and sometimes stalls for local trains at 34 Street–Herald Square. mark1447 Posted September 28, 2011 Share #20 Posted September 28, 2011 For me: IND/BMT Express from 42nd to 59th St (NB) Express from 125th to 145th (NB/SB) Express from 86th to 59th St. Express from Elmurst to 63rd Drive ( Manhattan Bridge Express. While speed is restricted due to bridge weight, a bit more speed would be nice to help speed up the ride over the Bridge Dekalb Skip Stop Express Express from 57th St to 42nd (SB) IRT Express 86th to 96th (NB) Express 50th to 42nd St; Houston St to Chambers St (SB) Express 174th to 180th Street. While I understand theres curves, trains usually end up stopping rather then going. (Not including the track swap) Express 3rd to Hunts Point Express 86th to 125th Express Queensboro to Woodside
Mysterious2train Posted September 28, 2011 Share #21 Posted September 28, 2011 Mine (due to lack of speed - they don't save much time over the local): between Hunts Point and 138th/3rd (both directions) between Atlantic and Franklin (both directions) I can agree with the others, but why the Southbound between Atlantic and Franklin? The northbound stretch is loaded with timers, but going Southbound there are no timers at all! When there are no bottlenecks at Rogers Junction, trains almost fly down that stretch! Downtown and come into Franklin crazy fast. I'm gonna have to pick the .
