cl94 Posted June 10, 2014 Share #4076 Posted June 10, 2014 the line is impassable too. Only the and are unaffected Actually, if you look at this track map (http://www.nycsubway.org/perl/caption.pl?/img/trackmap/detail-47-63.png) you can see the express track can be used to access the track to 57th Street-6th Avenue and the 63rd Street line. That connection has NO interaction with the junction you are talking about, so the and can switch to the express track AND go to the track without dealing with the junction in that situation (The when it terminated at 57th/6th could do this as well).. I HATE to say this, but Wally is correct. 63rd Street connects to the express track as well. How do you think the went up there in the 80s and 90s? There would be a switching nightmare at 34th Street, but it's easy enough to have locals run on the express track for 20 blocks.

Because of the ongoing evacuation and FDNY activity, the Queens bound track is not usable to terminate trains coming from Brooklyn. trains must bypass Essex St as well. I'm going to for this purpose say this is far enough away from Essex Street that trains can run through there, but not stop: Rush hours: and all skip Essex Street. Special block transfer at Park Row to/from the M15 and M101, M102 and M103 and at Broadway/Lafayette to/from the M1 and M6. runs as follows: Coney Island trains run via the between Coney Island and Court Square and stop at Queens Plaza before resuming normal service. Manhattan trains start at 2nd Avenue OR Chambers Street station. ALL trains run express to 179th Street. and trains are ALL extended to 179th Street and make all local stops. Weekend: stops at 14th & 23rd Streets runs via the Cranberry Street tunnel between Jay Street and West 4th and skip Essex Street is extended to West 4th Street and uses the express tunnel to terminate.
FamousNYLover Posted June 11, 2014 Share #4085 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) I would not sent via stations stops because it can properly open only 6-4 cars which could be dangerous. I remember when I got on 1st car of Coney Island-bound on R46, some homeless feces were on 1st car, so after good samitran told the train operator, he closed 1st car and we were transfer to 2nd car. I helped T/O that 1st car was closed until my stop 57th St-6th Av. Edited June 11, 2014 by FamousNYLover

TheNewYorkElevated Posted June 15, 2014 Share #4092 Posted June 15, 2014 An earthquake (similar from what went down in the hit anime series "Tokyo Magnitude 8.0") hits New York thanks to the Manhattaville Fault*. (EXTRA CREDIT) How would PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson), NJTransit, and SEPTA (Southeast Pennsylvania Transit Authority) deal with the aftermath? Lance Posted June 15, 2014 Share #4093 Posted June 15, 2014 I think we'd have a bit more pressing issues over getting the Northeast's subway/regional rails systems working, like the destruction and massive damage sustained in several major cities. Just saying.

Wallyhorse Posted June 16, 2014 Share #4100 Posted June 16, 2014 wait, trains can access the transit museum tracks? Yes, trains can if there are no other trains on them. There is a crossover there that dates back to when the Transit Museum station was an actual terminal for the Fulton Street locals (which is why Hoyt-Schermerhorn is a six-track, four-platform station). The idea here is this is an emergency situation and it potentially minimizes the need for shuttle buses in such an emergency.
