Q90 Posted July 26, 2013 Share #1326 Posted July 26, 2013 First of all the Sixth Avenue Line has no room. Second of all the Jamaica Line has no room. Why not just have the go there? It's so freaking close.......... train already has two branches (three during rush hours), it doesn't need another one. Also on the BMT Jamaica Line, that's why I propose building express tracks above the existing line between Broadway Junction and Marcy Avenue however it merges back into the existing line to stop at Myrtle Avenue-Broadway. And the train could be moved onto the IND 8th Avenue line between W 4 Street and 59 Street-Columbus Circle and would be express. But other than that it stays on it's current route.

There is no need for a third branch. Lefferts Boulevard is so close to the airport that an extension won't kill it. Besides the Jamaica Line can't handle an express track. Besides there is no room for switching at West 4th Street. It doesn't work..........

BM5 via Woodhaven Posted July 27, 2013 Share #1330 Posted July 27, 2013 Sorry, it said unplanned service changes which was why I posted it here. Also is it because of those stupid NIMBYS which is why they would get sued because I'm guessing it's that. No, it's because PANYNJ runs the airtrain for $5, and they have a right to sue if it's running right along with airtrain and interfering with their operations.

Wow that's stupid. Plus the Airtrain is shit anyways, charging $5. Nah, I'd rather walk to Miami than use that train.

It's not really stupid If you provide a service from Point A to Point B for lets say $4.00 , you have the rights for that. No, if someone else provides a service for $2.00, if you have evidence that your servuce is falling, you have the right to sue the company, because you have incured losses for that one's actions.

Orion VII 4 Life Posted July 27, 2013 Share #1334 Posted July 27, 2013 There is the Q10 bus if you don't want to spend $5.Right. If Port wanted their $5 so bad and didn't want those buses going on airport property they can revoke the TA's right to run buses there and use their roadways/stops. Similar to how NYPD and FDNY are not permitted on the property without Port's permission. What was being talked about is a little different though, it's an actual direct train service to the airport.

BreeddekalbL Posted July 28, 2013 Share #1337 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) Proposed subway line I made that runs from Harlem-125 Street to JFK Airport. Operates as IND 6 Avenue local and i'm calling it the since the former operated on the IND 6 Avenue line (obviously). Also runs express on BMT Jamaica line between Marcy Avenue and Broadway Junction, only stopping at Myrtle Avenue-Broadway in between. Heres the map of this proposed line: New V Train - Google Maps Also at Atlantic Avenue, it will use the platform of a demolished subway line right next to the . I proposed this line because Manhattan lacks a direct link to JFK, especially Harlem. Even if you use the to Howard Beach, you still have transfer to the AirTrain. And same thing with or / to Sutphin Boulevard. propose stuff like that here q90 we told you when you made a bus proposal thread to go to the proposal thread http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/24490-create-your-own-subway-route/ Edited July 28, 2013 by BreeddekalbL
Orion VII 4 Life Posted July 28, 2013 Share #1338 Posted July 28, 2013 I don't think that's true at all... It's very true, they even deny them access to the World Trade Center if an emergency happens. Some guy got trapped or fell or something, FDNY showed up but was not allowed inside, the PAPD ESU took care of it. I read about it on this NYPD cop forum (where they threaten to physically harm people out against the NYPD agenda). The City guys are called on if they're needed, and if they decide to show up anyway they stage in front of the PAPD precinct and are allowed in as needed. Point is, Port has a shit ton of control over what government agencies can enter their properties, and could easily revoke the MTA's permits to operate anything there.

AndrewJC Posted July 29, 2013 Share #1340 Posted July 29, 2013 No, it's because PANYNJ runs the airtrain for $5, and they have a right to sue if it's running right along with airtrain and interfering with their operations. Anybody has the right to sue for any reason, but the Port Authority is unlikely to win a lawsuit on the grounds that somebody is undercutting their fare. On the other hand, the Port Authority is extremely likely to win a lawsuit on the grounds that somebody has constructed something on their property without their permission!

They could, if there was a very significant loss in revenue (30% or more loss in revenue).
AndrewJC Posted July 29, 2013 Share #1342 Posted July 29, 2013 They could, if there was a very significant loss in revenue (30% or more loss in revenue). Nonsense. The Port Authority can obviously stop any other party from building on their property, but simply undercutting someone's prices is not grounds for a (successful) lawsuit.

CenSin Posted July 30, 2013 Share #1344 Posted July 30, 2013 They could, if there was a very significant loss in revenue (30% or more loss in revenue). I hope you're not saying that they could win. Unless you're in some socialist/totalitarian country where prices are tighly controlled, there is no issue with competition actually succeeding in providing lower-priced service. It's a basic feature of free markets.
peacemak3r Posted July 30, 2013 Share #1345 Posted July 30, 2013 I just got off a at Kings Highway, right now all (B)'s last stop is at Kings Highway. (Q)'s last stop is Brighton Beach until 3:00 pm and there's a shuttle train from Brighton Beach to Coney Island station. Also, just saw on the news at a local bagel shop, something happened in midtown disrupting subway services but I don't know which lines were affected. Can't say for sure on the midtown issue as I just caught the end of it.
