Joel Up Front Posted July 7, 2012 Share #76 Posted July 7, 2012 I mean those DD buses have no more standing room than a normal 40' bus.

mtattrain Posted January 1, 2013 Share #84 Posted January 1, 2013 I was just wondering if you guys think NICE should start using articulated buses on the more heavier routes... it seems like it can help with some of the crowding I've been hearing of. User Posted January 1, 2013 Share #86 Posted January 1, 2013 As well as the N40/41 and the n20 LIMITED, but I suggested trying them on the n6 first. I think NICE is holding off on using them because they won't fit in the depots.

Burrstone Posted January 1, 2013 Share #88 Posted January 1, 2013 This is actually in multiple threads. At one point nice was interested in trying articulated at some point, if they decide to test them, cool, if not oh well. We'll all just have to wait and see what nice does. checkmatechamp13 Posted January 1, 2013 Share #89 Posted January 1, 2013 Well, I'd rather they not, because even the more frequent routes don't run too frequently. But if they have to do it to save money, I guess they could try it on routes like the N6. Otherwise, I'd prefer they just add more service. Amtrak7 Posted January 1, 2013 Share #90 Posted January 1, 2013 NICE interlines so much that one-route-only artics would probably cost more money.
User Posted January 1, 2013 Share #91 Posted January 1, 2013 There probably is some part-time driver at NICE who does rush hour and the hours after rush hour on only the n6 where the buses are packed and an artic would probably fit well on those runs. HammelsY Posted March 19, 2013 Share #93 Posted March 19, 2013 The n6 has 5 peak minute frequencies. Putting articulated buses on it would only give veolia an excuse to decrease frequency to 7-8 minutes IMO. #profitmargin

Putting articulated buses on it would only give veolia an excuse to decrease frequency to 7-8 minutes IMO. #profitmargin Correction: The combined headways (n6 local and n6 express) is 5 minutes, the n6 local alone is every 10 minutes rush hours, which is what 80% of the n6 ridership is based from (the local stops). I don't see NICE cutting back service even with Artics. Too full to do that. Only problem is that there is this n6 that interlines with the n17, so Artics on the n17 is overkill. Interlines change every time there is a schedule change, so if NICE were to get artics, they would most likely do a schedule change where a driver manning an artic would only do routes that require artic buses like the n6, n4, n20, n40/41. Also, don't be so quick to assume that there would be less frequency in buses due to artics.
N6 Limited Posted March 19, 2013 Share #96 Posted March 19, 2013 Being that NICE tries to be efficient, I can see them reducing frequencies with Artics.

And even if that happens, it won't necessarily turn out negatively. They may do it in such a way that it doesn't effect badly at all.

Probably not, I'm assuming they 'd reduce frequencies just enough to make sure each bus is full, lol.
