The Old Gen units at the Manhattanville Depot is now at zero (0). 6724 was mentioned being out of service but now has its farebox removed along with 6693 (unit still has the box but, not in the service list).

Someone mentioned 2225 is back in service. Nothing goes to scrap unless there is a warranty for the Novas. The 7000s are: 7076, 7064, 7086 & 7071. Most of the 28-30 are sitting in Charleston getting flood inspected. Yes, Castleton has 240 buses total for its local routes, the question is: how many buses can be saved?

This bus is back in service as recent as 9/23. Bus is no longer on the scrap list along with 7001 which returned back to service on Monday.

Noticed a few 4××× NG hybrids getting scrapped at zerega (pcs, radiator, and high voltage cables removed). Anyone know why such young buses are getting the axe? I assume that they need either a traction motor or traction generator and are not worth fixing...anyone know the actual reason for the early retirement?

NVM...they look like they have been under water. 4372 and 3968 so far. There were 2 others, but I didn't catch the numbers

They were not under water because there are no NG's at Castleton............for that matter in all of Staten Island.  The optimum time to scrap buses is at 12 years old.  These buses have reached that age.  As you know, transit keeps them to about 15 years of age.  The NG's being retired have suffered form collisions,  and simply poor performing buses.  And not worth repairing financially and labor wise.

This exactly.  In any decent-sized bus or truck fleet, some units seem to become 'hangar queens', always breaking down or in the shop for one problem or another.  Once a transit bus passes the 12-year mark and replacements are available, any smart agency will sideline those problem units, even if it means that an older but more reliable bus remains in service longer than it 'should'.

#6740 and #6751 from Michael J. Quill, and #6778, #6776 and #6789 from Mother Clara Hale are retired.

#6706 and #6760 are at Zerega.

#6785 is now retired. The OG era in Manhattan is almost over.
