dagenius69 Posted November 11, 2012 Share #783 Posted November 11, 2012 No but they do another urine test to check for protein, I think thats for diabetes. Also if you wear contacts make sure you have glasses with you. They check your vision with the contacts, glasses and uncorrected. Do they take blood from you during the medical exam? Thank you all for your positive feedbacks.....
paulrivera Posted November 11, 2012 Share #784 Posted November 11, 2012 You can check for diabetes through protein? If anything I thought it was hemoglobin that determined if you might have diabetes
Den Posted November 12, 2012 Author Share #785 Posted November 12, 2012 (edited) The urine test is looking for Glucose in the urine to determine diabetes issues. Its not looking for proteins. Edited November 12, 2012 by Warduke
LexAveExp5 Posted November 12, 2012 Share #786 Posted November 12, 2012 But they still let you know that day if you're hired, right? Assuming everything is good, of course

elantra06 Posted November 12, 2012 Share #788 Posted November 12, 2012 But they still let you know that day if you're hired, right? Assuming everything is good, of course Yes. If your medical checks out the doctor will give you a note stating "your are found medically qualified for the position" to take back over to the other side. They then sit you down go over your 21 page booklet and swear you in.

trainman Posted November 12, 2012 Share #790 Posted November 12, 2012 Train Operator exam # 8098 expires on September.19,2016. There is plenty of time left for many others to get called. Patience is a key, especially with this tedious process. Again, good luck to all!!!

I'm already a Conductor, if i do get call, will i get laid off if i failed schoolcar? As far as I know and what was told to me, you take a leave of absense from conductor title, everything else carries over. If you fail then you can go back to your former title. There's a few people on here who already went thru this so maybe they can correct me and give you solid info. I'm just going by what was told to me from the people at 180 Liv. youngblaze Posted November 12, 2012 Share #793 Posted November 12, 2012 Dan, that is correct. As long as you are not on probation you can revert to your previous title within a year of appointment to your new title. If you are on probation you will have to resign from your current title and accept the new position.
subwaydriver Posted November 12, 2012 Share #794 Posted November 12, 2012 If you're a conductor wouldn't you have been on the promotional list? That one is finished as far a I know.

nab311 Posted November 12, 2012 Share #796 Posted November 12, 2012 Does anyone know what can disqualify you on a EKG??? irregular heartbeat, skips in beats, high pulse/heartbeat....won't disqualify you, but you will be asked to go to your own doctor and have him check you out and clear you for the position by giving them whatever they ask for. trainman Posted November 13, 2012 Share #797 Posted November 13, 2012 Thank you for that answer on the EKG ques. Now I have read in the past a lot of people asking what is the magic number on the blood pressure check. Basically, what I like to know is; what number would have a potential candidate disqualify? Lowest to highest???
Y2Julio Posted November 13, 2012 Share #798 Posted November 13, 2012 If you're a conductor wouldn't you have been on the promotional list? That one is finished as far a I know. nope. As long as you've passed probation, you can take the title of T/O from off the open competitive list.
subwaydriver Posted November 13, 2012 Share #799 Posted November 13, 2012 Is there an advantage to doing it that way?
Y2Julio Posted November 13, 2012 Share #800 Posted November 13, 2012 Aside from not having to wait for the next promotional train operator exam, not really.
