Fresh Pond Posted October 9, 2012 Share #1181 Posted October 9, 2012 No sir, and to be honest with you. I dunno why the 39xx's were moved out from FB to MJQ in the first place. But, they needs to change the rules with that and send those 39xx's to Brooklyn. Brooklyn has ALOT more RTS to replace than manhattan does. Lastly this is the and let's see the outcome of this. The reason why the 3900s left Flatbush in the first place is cuz the lead acid batteries were dying at a much faster rate in Brooklyn. Brooklyn has more open stretches compared to Manhattan, therefore the constant stop and go in Manhattan keeps the batteries charged. LOL "It That Disrespect That You Showing To Me This Is Not School. Grand Concourse Posted October 11, 2012 Share #1190 Posted October 11, 2012 The ones on the 3960s and up uses lithium ion batteries. So no, they are not the same, which is why it won't make sense to move them back to Brooklyn.

And yes, those are the same lead acid batteries as 6490-6624/6790-6855, which is why it's odd that they wouldn't hold up as well.

We'll have to wait and see being that they need to retrofit the garage to handle those 62 footer's. According to Acela they have plans to remove an employee parking lot to possible house the LFSA's. Grand Concourse Posted October 12, 2012 Share #1197 Posted October 12, 2012 Plus why would FB give up that many NGs for? The trend seems to be more geared to have more (rather than less) lf buses. I don't see the lfsa pushing out any or many NGs. And I prefer the RTSs. I think he means the NGs that started in Brooklyn, the FB 3900 series that are now at Quill. And yes, those are the same lead acid batteries as 6490-6624/6790-6855, which is why it's odd that they wouldn't hold up as well. Oh Ok. I didn't understand what he meant, but basically people thinking the 3900-59 batch needs to return don't understand why they were sent to Manhattan in the first place. I don't see why they'd be moved back to Brooklyn when there aren't many stop/go or short routes. The current batch with the Lithium ion batteries are just fine. trainfan22 Posted October 14, 2012 Share #1199 Posted October 14, 2012 Yesterday there was a lot of the newer LSFAs on the BX12 SBS, there 1200s must be really beat up and or have high mileage or something. Not complaining though, its cool to see the newer Novas and sometime D60s on the BX12 SBS.
