The days the snow loans will be in effect is not answerable at this time.  It is a very fluid situation.  It all has to do with how much snow we get and how soon the streets are safe enough to resume articulated service as the cleanup progresses.

Now please, that this answer to your memory bank and use it for the next snow storm this season, next season, the season after that...…….

You've asked the same question at least 4 times in less than 24 hours and the same questions last month when it snowed previously.  This is why the contributors to this board get on your case!  Just let it play out and you'll get your information as it is received.  In the transportation business, weather conditions makes concrete plans (which is exactly what you want) impossible to set.

What I don't like with these transfers, and it gets worse and worse as we get more and more articulated to replace 40'ers and routes converted to artic, is that it screws riders who depend on routes already with 40' buses.  Buses run late because of the snow and on top of that runs are not covered due to no bus available.  And it gets worse and worse each season.

Here's hoping that the XE60s lead the charge in changing that.

I don't see what that has to do with it.  In the snow artics have the tendency to jack-knife and they don't handle well (drivers section).

There's some talk of the XE60s being significantly better with snow traction because they have a two-axle drive system. Rather than the standard articulated tractor-trailer setup there are motors in two sets of wheels, making it a tractor-tractor/trailer situation. At the least it should reduce jackknifing.

Ah ok, many thanks.  I was unaware of that.  We'll see what the policy will be in due time.

Quill loans are returning to SI. Last pullouts were earlier today, maybe one or two buses still out there. I saw 7045 working the M20 as late as 7ish, last few stragglers might be pulling in now.

However artics are still grounded. So Quill is really, really short. Hope nobody's relying on an MQ route this evening. In-borough loaners (MV to OH, etc.) remain in effect.

My understanding is they plan on resuming regular bus service tomorrow. I was speaking about it with some of the regular drivers in my group tonight. We shall see.

4559, from Grand Avenue, also appears to be on loan to East New York Depot. Running on the B12.

Update: 7280 (FP) is also operating on the B12.

Update #2: 4436 & 4571 (GA) is operating on the Q24.

I just saw 4047 running on the B25. I believe it still has Fresh Pond logos.

Updates: All buses have returned back to Fresh Pond and Grand as of this morning.

4436, 4559, 4571 are all working on Grand Avenue routes this morning

4047, 7280 are working on Fresh Pond routes.

I think those buses have returned back to Queens Village..

I don't believe these 2 buses ever saw service at CS and if they were to see service would it be for the Q48?

Those were there for the snow storm. FP had 2486/2434. Those went back after the storm.

Did any of those run? I assume no, probably crew transfer buses or something?

I haven't seen an express in local service anywhere besides SI since Quill ran the X90 express fleet on the local lines - O5s and RTSes with the platform seats. Used to feel like you won the lottery getting one of those.

And in SI they run Express Buses on local lines?
