Metro CSW Posted December 24, 2012 Share #2027 Posted December 24, 2012 I would love for the MTA to make Chambers St or Canal St a full time terminal for the train, Renovate both stations, and fully open and renovate the Bowery station lol, No..... just no! Please........ no.
Subwayfan12 Posted December 24, 2012 Share #2028 Posted December 24, 2012 Logically speaking, people don't go from 148 St all the way to New Lots. also, having it as a shuttle between 148 and 135 causes conflicting movements at 135. yeah, i understand that but sometimes the is useless
Guest Lance Posted December 24, 2012 Share #2029 Posted December 24, 2012 Duplicating lines are not useless. The 3 provides a connection between the New Lots/Livonia line and 7th Avenue. Severing that connection would shift all those riders over to the 2 and 4, both of which have their own riders.

Indeed, because you can't assume everyone wants to go to the East Side...

What purpose does having the not start at Broad St serve??
MHV9218 Posted December 25, 2012 Share #2032 Posted December 25, 2012 So if I understand this right, the now has one set of R62s operating? So it begins. I'm on that train every day, so chances are I'll run into it in time. Going to be an odd sight, I can't even remember the last time I rode a non-NTT on the .

RollOver Posted December 25, 2012 Share #2035 Posted December 25, 2012 Actually, there is one set of R62s operating on the line right now, according to the latest datasheet. Could be because of 10 R142As being out of service, I dunno.
Snowblock Posted December 25, 2012 Share #2036 Posted December 25, 2012 I love this forum. You'll believe misinformation in the NY Post, but if a member reports something, everyone demands PROOF before they'll believe it. Those signs in the Pelham crew room which state "All T/Os must bring their brake handle to work every day" are proof enough that something's about to happen.
RollOver Posted December 25, 2012 Share #2037 Posted December 25, 2012 I do prefer the Redbirds, R32s, R38s, R40s and R42s because they were the older generation of subway cars that made the system interesting, despite the flaws they had - such as the R40 Slants' and R42s' rust issues and the Redbirds' deteriorated bodies. I love the motor sounds the R32s, R42s and R44s make after going past 40 or 50 miles per hour. I love the roaring and hauling all the A Division cars and the B Division's 60 foot cars make. The view of the window by the Redbirds, R32s, R38s, R40s, and R42s is just a bonus (which is why I tried to thicker with that after school on my free time while the R32s were on the line last summer). Hope to first get an RFW on the entire route with the R42s.

I hate the Post and I don't believe what I read in it. I only believe it when a TA employee posts info without sources. For example I have never doubted you. 2. I'm thousands of miles away. So I can only rely on what I read here. Edited December 25, 2012 by 6 Lexington Ave
CDTA Posted December 25, 2012 Share #2040 Posted December 25, 2012 (edited) I saw an NIS train of Redbirds heading southbound @GCT today* at around 1AM. It wasn't pulling any cars, and there was nobody on it. Edited December 25, 2012 by CDTA

Threxx Posted December 25, 2012 Share #2045 Posted December 25, 2012 Which areas on the Eastern Division prohibit 75 footers from operating there? The curve @ Essex Street, Crecent Street Curve, and curve heading up to Myrtle. If two trains passed each other on those curves, they'd sideswipe.
ttcsubwayfan Posted December 25, 2012 Share #2046 Posted December 25, 2012 Thanks! That actually brings me nicely into my next question, where are the tightest curves on B division lines where 75 footers do operate? (That includes the and , which sometimes have 68s).

Someone also mentioned city hall bmt just south of the station.
overclocked Posted December 25, 2012 Share #2049 Posted December 25, 2012 Check the car assignment sheet linked below: http://www.thejoekor...2012-12-16.html Unless I have the worst of the luck, it's not there. The sheet is effective for over a week now and no one has witnessed that set, which leads to one conclusion; it's not there yet.
