SevenEleven Posted May 26, 2014 Share #12201 Posted May 26, 2014 2 reasons there was a demo here a few years ago and they did not like it, another reason why is that they won't do a deal cause there was an article going around i think here or on subchat regarding a bus shortage in the mid 90's and gillig was quoted as saying that they would go bankrupt if they did business with the NYCTA The Gillig demo that we had was to test the hybrid propulsion.

XcelsiorBoii4888 Posted May 28, 2014 Share #12205 Posted May 28, 2014 If they don't know what to do with 4899, then why can't they just put the regular engine combo that the rest of the fleet has. It's going on 3 years...bus only had like 2 months of service.

Ever caught the same "rare" catch 3 days in a row on the same route?

Yet no one believed me when I said that "this is probably not the last run for this bus" on last Friday's fantrip. Now watch it run the Q53 tomorrow. Tomorrow is actually the last day since that's when the tanks expire. Edited May 30, 2014 by 4P3607

Unless they gonna tow it.
E For Erica Posted May 30, 2014 Share #12212 Posted May 30, 2014 Umm...they gotta get it to ECH before the tanks expire. Unless they gonna tow it. Which they might do. If I ever catch it taking a CP route within the next few days, (Which I might have to take the 53 tomorrow) I'm intentionally taking the next C40LF that comes behind it.
SevenEleven Posted May 30, 2014 Share #12213 Posted May 30, 2014 The roof scoop at the back of the C40s are being removed. Saw a few Spring Creek units with them gone.

trainfan22 Posted May 30, 2014 Share #12215 Posted May 30, 2014 These new C40s are starting sound like those Cummins L10s that the LIB V CNGs used to have, 509 drove past me and the sound so reminded me of those L10s.

Missabassie Posted May 30, 2014 Share #12218 Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) Just saw 1247 on M60 +SBS+... Knew it would happen sooner or later. And soon enough, one of the 59xx will wind up on the M15 +SBS+ if it hasn't already Edited May 30, 2014 by Missabassi

BM5 via Woodhaven Posted May 31, 2014 Share #12221 Posted May 31, 2014 http://web.mta.info/nyct/maps/busqns.pdf They updated the map to show M60 SBS service. In addition, the path of the bus routes inside LaGuardia have been slightly modified. The Q48 is now orange.
E For Erica Posted May 31, 2014 Share #12222 Posted May 31, 2014 Today was my first time taking the bus in Manhattan in years. I only touched the M72 though. It doesn't really count to me because Quill's 40 ft local routes are kinda short anyway. But I love that all their RTS's are 5000's. Caught a FP original too. I was gonna check out the M60 since I've never seen the route in person ever, but my friend had other plans..

4P3607 Posted May 31, 2014 Share #12224 Posted May 31, 2014 9849 made it's last run today on the Q25. It's hard to imagine that I'll never ride one of those again. (Now that's if it doesn't somehow come out Monday...)
