1992 Mci D4500 Is At Outside Spring Creek Depot . Sitting in the yard right now , just came from there . Please add 9426 back to the roster , they arent going to scrap it anymore & add 9179 back on the list its been in service for 2 months now . And 2400 is not at ulmer park anymore , its either at prevost again or at Yukon depot .

I kinda figured it wouldnt be scrap. The same thing happened with 9323 a few months ago: Problem was a defected F/B.

 

 

 

Oh , they put the same fb back in but its back in the scrap section in the corner with 1916 . They might as well get rid of 1916 it hasnt been moved or ran since early september its been 2 months o/s . It only ran in service at ulmer park atleast 3-5 times since its been here theres something seriously wrong with it . 1915 is at ech so they might as well send 1916 up there too .

These sets of moves are totally weird especially taking buses from Spring Creek. Why couldn't they get buses from Eastchester or College Point. They are the ones with the most express bus fleet.

 

Anyhow, some of these moves I don't see happening. especially the Spring Creek to UP & Meredith.. Meredith have 28xx buses, some need repair, some are very good and running, and UP has 21xx buses and most of them are going to be bye-bye. UNLESS SPRING CREEK gets the next MCI order for 2012, I don't see it happening. At best UP should swap with Meredith and send 43xx buses to them when they receive the backend of the Prevost order. (All of this is subject to change and you know we all are dealing with the MTA)

 

3238 spotted on QM15 in Midtown Manhattan. Still has SC decals. I know SC doesn't have property of the QM15. I forget which depot has that line.

 

Prevost order is for Yukon, and Ulmer Park from what I know. I believe Charleston MAY BE in the mix also.

and if the 22xx move from SC to meredith is true. Than next MCI order for MTA bus would be Spring Creek and Yonkers (IMO).

 

When the MTA makes decisions about the bus fleet age, do they count express buses in the same category as the local buses? Is it possible that with SC eventually getting new CNG buses for their local routes, they are 'justified' in losing those newer MCIs?

When the Department of Buses shifts buses around, yes...EVERYTHING gets factored in. For example, let's look at two depots...College Point and Queens Village.

 

College Point (as of right now) has:

 

2004 MCI D4500 Cruiser #3000-3009

2005 MCI D4500 Cruiser #3010-3063 along with some 3100s and 3200s

2006 MCI D4500 Cruiser #3125-3199 series along with #3259-3260

2007 MCI D4500 Cruiser upper #3300s and #3400s

 

See how the Express fleet is balanced there? Now let's look at Queens Village:

 

1998 MCI 102-DLW3SS Cruiser: A few 1900s

1999 MCI 102-DLW3SS Cruiser: 2121, 2130, 2136

2002 MCI D4500 Cruiser: #2813, #2815, #2820, #2886-2888, #2910-2924

 

Now that's balanced their too. Same holds true for the New Flyer Articulateds, CNGs, Hybrids (Manhattanville is a GOOD example of Hybrid Fleet age) and regular diesel buses.

Furthermore, I have pictures of SOME of these buses sitting at Mitchell Field UNLESS if they were towed to Eastchester recently. However, I know Orion 05.501 CNG #1536 was at Eastchester. But this just goes to show you that those buses are dropping fast.

Finally! Someone made a storage/scrap list for ECH. I still say it's a waste to scrap #5003. That bus was in fine condition exterior wise. All they had to was to take parts from another bus & use on #5003.

6 buses are sitting outside on the side of the depot.

The other half was parked in the parking spots facing the opposite way, but I didn't see them there anymore a driver had said they are inside. There is a bus they completely stripped for parts I couldn't get the #. Yes you are right they are dropping like flies.

Not surprised the vikings havent een sold... the MTA should have just made them finish their lives then retire them. Subub Orion Vs.. probably wont ever see service again
