Cait Sith Posted February 23, 2011 Share #378 Posted February 23, 2011 Cool stuff but what about the New Flyer D40LFR? Might want to look where the XD/XDE40 is mentioned, as the order of D40LFRs might be Xcelsior models instead.
East New York Posted February 23, 2011 Author Share #379 Posted February 23, 2011 Cool stuff but what about the New Flyer D40LFR? I kind of left it off because I'm hearing the Xcelsior could replace the LFR.
Princelex Posted February 25, 2011 Share #380 Posted February 25, 2011 I kind of left it off because I'm hearing the Xcelsior could replace the LFR. Ahh HA! I gotcha man. That would be cool if this happens!
Princelex Posted March 1, 2011 Share #381 Posted March 1, 2011 ENY, I heard from a friend of mine that the 270 buses we are getting are the last of any new bus that we are getting for a while because of how financially strapped the is. Is that true? I thought there was separate money from ordering buses and trains?
Novasupporter Posted March 6, 2011 Share #382 Posted March 6, 2011 Well Nova fans, there should be 3 buses on their way to S.Plainfield for delivery preparation today. Will confirm on Monday they actually left. 2 will be from the ThermoKing group and 1 from the Carrier group. Looks like they are pushing to ship 2 buses per day starting on Monday as well until caught up with their schedule (roughly end of March). As you start to see them, please let me know I would like to get everyone's impression on these.

LRG Posted March 6, 2011 Share #385 Posted March 6, 2011 Staten Island Division * Castleton Bus Depot - Orion VII, RTS LF * Charleston Bus Annex - Orion V, Orion VII * Meredith Bus Depot - Express * Yukon Bus Depot - Orion V, Orion VII, RTS LF In regards to Staten Island I'd give Charleston Nova LFS and LFSA since the S79 +SBS is not officially dead and Yukon may not be equipped to handle Artics of any kind. As for Castleton and Yukon they can have the 3Gs and maybe some LFS.

Is that true? I thought there was separate money from ordering buses and trains? That is untrue as they are getting more CNGs, Express coaches and will be placing bids for more Articulated buses later this year. Also the buses are purchased through the Capital Construction plan, not the operational budget.

Novasupporter Posted March 8, 2011 Share #389 Posted March 8, 2011 Update on Nova's deliveries for test fleet. 1 bus left on Sunday, 1 left yesterday and there are 3 more in the parking lot waiting for drivers...
w8Hou Posted March 9, 2011 Share #390 Posted March 9, 2011 Update on Nova's deliveries for test fleet. 1 bus left on Sunday, 1 left yesterday and there are 3 more in the parking lot waiting for drivers... I have some questions.... The rear doors on the Nova LFS 40 foot order, is it open inward or outward? Second, there is a newspaper report in your area (http://pressrepublican.com/new_today/x10251636/Nova-Bus-announces-order-for-90-buses), that MTA is "may" consider ordering more artics with them, any details on that? Novasupporter Posted March 10, 2011 Share #391 Posted March 10, 2011 I have some questions.... The rear doors on the Nova LFS 40 foot order, is it open inward or outward? If memory serves me right all of the doors open inward. The article is obviously late since Nova has already started to deliver the test fleet for 40ft buses. As for the artics most of what I know has come from this forum. Last I heard was the MTA was looking to order 385 artics and they were going to Nova. This could go infront of the board as soon as this month for approval.
Infamous85 Posted March 10, 2011 Share #392 Posted March 10, 2011 Yesterday I saw Baisley Park's roof being "something'd", it has this big white thing on it with tons (around 10-15) of workers on top. I guess this has something to do with this thread (artics?).
qjtransitmaster Posted March 12, 2011 Share #393 Posted March 12, 2011 Wow, New Flyer dealing with the again...Thanks for the info ENY! will they also be in nassau too?? nassau needs buses to get more efficient
SevenEleven Posted March 12, 2011 Share #394 Posted March 12, 2011 will they also be in nassau too?? nassau needs buses to get more efficient No, LIB just received 40 new Orion VII NGs. With the new batch of service cuts coming for LIB, they won't be getting anything soon.
East New York Posted April 8, 2011 Author Share #395 Posted April 8, 2011 The next awards will be for... 79 CNG's. Previously expected to be for a total of 83 buses. I'm not sure how this one will turn out. 104 CNG's. (74 base, 30 options) Award now delayed, and now expected by November. *The MTA has decided they do not want to put this order out for bid. It will now most likely be sole sourced from either Orion or New Flyer. Buses will be funded 80% by the government, and 20% by MTA. 90 Articulated Buses. Award now expected by June at the latest. Possibly a test fleet of XC60's. 328 Artics. Award extected by July. 60 Express Coaches. Award expected soon. Future demo buses.... Nova LFS Hybrid. MTS RTS Low Floor diesel. Late 2012, Early 2013. * In other news, 34th Street SBS is now expected to be up and running this fall. * 2 C40LFR Pilots coming soon to complete acceptance testing at Spring Creek, West Farms, and Zerega. ENY, I heard from a friend of mine that the 270 buses we are getting are the last of any new bus that we are getting for a while because of how financially strapped the is. Is that true? I thought there was separate money from ordering buses and trains? For the most part, this is correct, but it has nothing to do with funding. For right now, the test buses, new CNG's, and new articulated coaches will meet the requirements needed at this point. After that more buses will be coming in as needed. But it will be a while before that happpens. The TA will also be overhauling some RTS', Orion V's, and New Flyer D60HF's to extend the life of some of them. Yesterday I saw Baisley Park's roof being "something'd", it has this big white thing on it with tons (around 10-15) of workers on top.I guess this has something to do with this thread (artics?). A few depots will undergo various upgrades. Included will be Baisley Park, College Point, East New York, JFK, LaGuardia, and Spring Creek.
Lothian Posted April 8, 2011 Share #396 Posted April 8, 2011 The next awards will be for...Future demo buses.... Nova LFS Hybrid. Joel Up Front Posted April 9, 2011 Share #399 Posted April 9, 2011 Is that the Pits Hairpin at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada? There's only one other major racetrack there in Canada, and that's the much more hilly Mosport...
Lothian Posted April 9, 2011 Share #400 Posted April 9, 2011 Yes indeed, it's Gilles Villeneuve. Nova was a sponsor at the F1 GP last year, so they took a hybrid out for a spin!
