This can be a bit confusing. Our modern calendar has no year 0. We simply go from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D. (Don't ask me why we date B.C. backwards so that 1999 B.C. "happened" after 2000 B.C. but before 1998 B.C.). In referring to the decades within a century (1901-2000, for example), it's common to include the 0 year. We're in the twenty-first century because 1-100 was the first century (it would be kind of neat to write a date as 9 January 1 or 9 January 67).

So the 2000's A.D. (or "Turn Of The Century") are 1 January 2000 A.D. - 31 December 2009 and the Teens are 1 January 2010 - 31 January 2019.

In some ways, it might be easier to adopt the Holocene calendar which omits B.C. and A.D., combining both and beginning Year 1 at our 10,000 B.C..

Under the Holocene Calendar today would be 9 January 12011.

I made this topic a year and it starting now ?
