Either the roof isn’t as damaged as it was believed or the MTA is only doing the bare minimum to get the roof open as quickly as possible in the short term. As for the temporary swap, as a fan I kind of like the prospect of seeing the New Flyer hybrids back on the Transverse. The project is supposed to last up to 12 months but the rooftop is subject to partial closure, which is why the rooftop is doing 3-4 months. There might be other components related to the rooftop or depot that does not require the M60SBS and M66 to stay at other depots for an extended period of time.

Quill Depot used to be a storage facility and headquarters for Greyhound buses from 1966-1996. Greyhound sold it to the MTA, which then renovated and opened the depot in 1998 as Westside Depot. It was renamed Michael J. Quill Depot two years later. Interesting history.

That depot took both OH & AM depot buses and closed WA permanently.

I remember when it first opened. Some snooty passengers noticed the "West Side Depot" stickers and complained that the Upper East Side was being "contaminated" by West Side buses.

Um you’re wrong. From 1998 to 2003, when OH was closed for renovations, the M101 & M103 went to MV, while M102 went to WS (renamed Quill)

No, because the only MTA Bus depot in Brooklyn is Spring Creek; and their standard fleet is now 100% CNG.

If the MTA wanted to get rid of all of the OGs and NGs, JFK will need a little more buses. Both the LFS and XD40 count for JFK is at 178. The Orions count is at 196. They will need 18 more buses to replace all of them. Eastchester is now covered under 34 XD40s, Baisley Park is fine at 46, and LaGuardia is perfect as they will have a fleet expansion at 140 buses. So it could possibly mean that JFK may need a few more LFSes for added coverage.

Calvin Posted March 3, 2023 Share #5992 Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) I wonder if the 2010 Next Gens from NYCT will take part in replacements in the future. After the 2022 LFS order is completed, 8755-8963, there will be at least units from 4656-4702 left over。 Edited March 3, 2023 by Calvin

Kingsbridgeviewer382 Posted March 3, 2023 Share #5995 Posted March 3, 2023 I would't be surprised to see the individual Novas being scattered around like the ones currently being delivered, though I like the prospect of seeing them at MTA Bus in any capacity.
