TheSubwayStation 908 #3 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) You might as well call this the O A M train to Lefferts...For the record, I will NOT be wasting an entire night's sleep at Lefferts Blvd to see this! It'll be really cool, but that's what youtube's for, IMO . I'll leave stuff like this to the more serious buffs. (That is, if it even happens.) NX Express 292 #4 Posted August 9, 2012 It's on the MTA website, under service changes. http://travel.mtanyct.info/serviceadvisory/routeStatusResult.aspx?tag=A&date=09/08/2012&time=&method=getstatus4
Brighton Express 567 #5 Posted August 9, 2012 No to CI?
Quill Depot 1,570 #6 Posted August 9, 2012 Why? This is strange! I'm not going out there to see this though. Wonder if it'll be R46's or R160's.
TheSubwayStation 908 #7 Posted August 9, 2012 Yeah. My real question is why the MTA would do this...What repairs would this allow for? Obviously, the repairs aren't on the Fulton Line or the Rockaway Line, as trains will be running there. If they were on the Culver Line, the could just be turned at Euclid Av. It doesn't make sense.
NX Express 292 #8 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) It's Culver Viaduct work, with the usual to Euclid GO. However, overnight the will run to Lefferts Bl to replace the Shuttle, probably to reduce crew costs. Edited August 9, 2012 by NX Express
peacemak3r 1,351 #9 Posted August 9, 2012 No to CI? There's no between Jay Street and 18 Av, so I'll assume there's 's running from CI to 18 Av.
Dan05979 1,028 #10 Posted August 9, 2012 I wonder if F to Leff is a choice on the computer.
paulrivera 1,145 #11 Posted August 9, 2012 An to Lefferts... They're probably doing this to get all those relaying and trains out of the way from trains that are going straight through. This probably saves on having to pay for platform C/R's at Euclid too...
T to Dyre Avenue 1,229 #12 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) They've done the to Euclid G.O. many times. If that's the reason the late-night is going to Lefferts, then I'm wondering why they haven't had the replace the Lefferts before (have they ever?). BM5 via Woodhaven 5,156 #13 Posted August 9, 2012 Damn it why late nights.
j express 681 #14 Posted August 9, 2012 The to Lefferts Blvd G.O only takes place during late night because of the regular to Lefferts. Since service is cut and there is no place for the to turn without disrupting service so send the to Eculid Av to provide service to Flutin line local stations. If the were sent to Lefferts during the day all service would go to Far Rockway and run every 20 minutes which people along 8 th av would not be happy about infrequent service. This allows service to remain unchanged.

And probably to avoid delays at Euclid Ave, where the & Euclid terminate.

+Young+ 580 #18 Posted August 10, 2012 My educated guess is that they will be using the R160s for this. Any R46s would probably and most likely come out of Jamaica. Plus, I just looked on the R46 code sheet and I can't find a code to Lefferts Blvd for an train. I did, though, find one code for a Euclid Avenue bound train, via 63 Street, 6 Avenue Local, via Fulton Street.
alejr88 327 #19 Posted August 10, 2012 I wonder if F to Leff is a choice on the computer. I doubt it, then again you're a B Division Subway Conductor so there might be a possibility.
Mr Railfan 702 #20 Posted August 10, 2012 I doubt it, then again you're a B Division Subway Conductor so there might be a possibility. Why wouldn't there be a program? They have the to the Rockaways and Lefferts along with the to Euclid / Rockaways and lefferts , so why wouldn't they have an program. I just don't know if they have one going to lefferts via Fulton local.

I just don't know if they have one going to lefferts via Fulton local. That's exactly what I'm trying to say, there is an program to Euclid but I don't know if they have one for Lefferts Blvd. Yeah I know about the to Far Rock but I'm not counting on it. I'm not always right, just human.
Snowblock 3,488 #22 Posted August 10, 2012 Good ole operations planning - they can come up with a million different programs that will never get used (2 from 148 to Flatbush via Lex? CMON!), yet they never have the programs loaded for actual GOs. There STILL isn't a 2 to South Ferry program, even with the new Barclays update! BroadwayBuffer 39 #23 Posted August 10, 2012 Most R-46 F's during that G.O. ran with "to Euclid Av" with no letter, the same would apply if it runs to Lefferts. If R-160s run during the G.O., they'll most likely use the Euclid program if nothing to Lefferts exists or reprogram at Euc as an shuttle to Lefferts depending on what supervision/line management decides. Q10 Airport 134 #25 Posted August 10, 2012 They've done the to Euclid G.O. many times. If that's the reason the late-night is going to Lefferts, then I'm wondering why they haven't had the replace the Lefferts before (have they ever?). On regular weekends they often have the go to Euclid. I honestly don't know why it's now going to Lefferts. You hardcore railfans can now listen to the following voice: "This is a Lefferts Blvd bound train via the Lefferts Blvd . The next stop is 104th Street."
