That is not true at all. 63rd Street Tunnel will be singled tracked the entire way from 63rd to Queensbridge. It will be completely shut between Lex/63rd and 57/6th

Why else do you think the MTA is running a shuttle train every 20 min? It’s because they are running one set of trains back and forth

Ah!

The reports I previously had was only the part between 57th and 6th and 63rd and Lex was being worked on.

There is a separate full (M) train closure GO coming up for Labor Day but extends to Thursday and Friday weekdays. Likely due to low ridership expected for the holiday weekend, so they’ll run the (J) similar to how they ran it during the 121 St-Jamaica closure - fully local and absorbing the (Z) train trips, and also local Myrtle to Marcy

Probably to allow equipment trains to use the express track all the way to the yard.  They are not CBTC equipped so they can't share the track so they are better off with the E/F going local.

So are they running (Z)-designated trains during this time even if skip-stop is suspended entirely? That's pretty much extra (J) trains at this point.

According to this article, the MTA is planning a 44-month rehabilitation work on much of the Rockaway infrastructure to commence later this year and set to complete by summer 2026. Work will include tracks at Broad Channel and Howard Beach, the Rockaway Viaduct, the Hammels Wye Viaduct, and the South Channel Bridge. A signal tower at Beach 105th St is also planned to be installed during the project. There will be service disruptions on the (A) and (SR), including a 16-week shutdown in the first half of 2025 on service to/from the Rockaways.

The complaint from the residents was insane, they’ll have to deal with shuttle busses during winter months, and as someone said in the board meeting and I quote “We’re having our local residents bear the hardest months in the winter to change their entire commute to accommodate the folks that want to come in the summer” I get the frustration and I think the MTA was in the wrong to plan this, it’s totally unfair for the community there, the people that want to come to the Rockaway in the summer should deal with such service

This I agree with.  Some compromise needs to be done there.

I don’t know if this was answered already, but why is the (M) not running to 21st instead of having a shuttle? Are the tracks between 57th St & 63rd St also out?

Like Lex said, one of the tracks is out. The construction is reaching further down south of 57 St station as well which is why only one track is available when the (M) is running to 57 St.

So the (E)(F) trains local service along Queens Blvd late nights will begin much earlier, 8:30PM towards Manhattan, 9PM towards Queens. So much Question is Will (R) trains still be running towards the city from 71st Ave.

Yes. After 8:30-9PM, all trains are local, likely since the (R) alone is garbage after 8PM and for additional work train moves, so the (E)(F)(R) all share the local

The (B) and (R)should swap in Brooklyn. Let the (R)run Brighton Express and the (B) run 4th Ave Local. This way the (R)can run to Astoria and still have yard access. The (B)can use Concourse Yard, sending the (D) to CIY. Yes, you'd have to run the (B)on weekends, but they really need to anyway to alleviate the (C).
