Around the Horn Posted March 10, 2014 Share #5926 Posted March 10, 2014 It means exactly what I said. If there aren't any 160s available, rather than abandon the interval, they'll run the 46s on it. However, since the E gets first dibs on the 160s, the likelihood of that actually happening is slim. So what happens if a 46 gets on the ,MTA repremands them?
Union Tpke Posted March 11, 2014 Share #5927 Posted March 11, 2014 If 46s get laid up on Hillside on Friday night, they'll be on the road on Saturday. There's no R160 program to run via QB Lcl AND via Cranberry so the CR must either change programs after Roosevelt or make manual announcements. Thanks Snowblock!
VIP Posted March 11, 2014 Share #5928 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) The and needs more rush hour service in Brooklyn. I was on the from Jay Street to Euclid and the that came after the at Jay Street finally caught up at Euclid Avenue. The constant door recycling was a huge problem due to overcrowding. And its a MAD HOUSE at Broadway jct. with Loads of people getting off and trying to board the trains. Edited March 11, 2014 by VIP
Missabassie Posted March 11, 2014 Share #5929 Posted March 11, 2014 The needs more service, especially on weekends. Yet the damn gets all the attention...
Jsunflyguy Posted March 11, 2014 Share #5930 Posted March 11, 2014 Well the is serviced from one yard, so if too much stuck is issued to the other lines (which have yards on both ends the gets screwed and some other yard like Pitkin would have to make a save.
N6 Limited Posted March 12, 2014 Share #5931 Posted March 12, 2014 QB Line sucks this week. You have FastTrack which isn't really a big deal but then you have construction in Queens causing slow speed orders or whatever you call it. - Took way too long to get home

MHV9218 Posted March 12, 2014 Share #5936 Posted March 12, 2014 7318 has strips with the brown M, , and . Nice surprise to see today. Funnily enough the "downtown only" transfer for Bleecker street got covered up, but nobody replaced the old strip.

Snowblock Posted March 14, 2014 Share #5938 Posted March 14, 2014 So what happens if a 46 gets on the ,MTA repremands them? The only one who will get reprimanded is the T/O who didn't bring his reverser key. It's unlikely (but not impossible - I've seen it happen a couple times) for a R46 to be on the simply because that line doesn't use Hillside layups, and Jamaica Yard won't send a R46 put-in to Parsons/Archer unless there's nothing else available. Unusual equipment assignments I've personally seen since I started working here: R62 on the and -- my very last roundtrip on the to South Ferry Terminal a week before the hurricane was with a Kawasaki R62 10 car R32 on the -- last used a couple weekends ago when the was turning at Jay R160 on the -- used for Barclays specials R46 R68 R68A R160 on the -- all last summer, started showing up one week after I got bumped from that line! R68A, R160 on the -- I've personally worked the 68A twice, and missed the 160 by one interval (it was borrowed after a got rerouted) R68A on the -- worked this personally (borrowed from a rerouted ) R32 on the -- no comment R68A on the

Trainmaster5 Posted March 14, 2014 Share #5946 Posted March 14, 2014 It was on the local track though. Back in the day the would make local stops if there was a delay in service hence the 9 car markers on the local tracks. They would try to avoid using a train for the local whenever possible because of the length of the line and the possibility of major delays at the terminals. On the east side Lex line the was the fill in for the service, especially when the trains were only going to Bowling Green.
CenSin Posted March 15, 2014 Share #5947 Posted March 15, 2014 Got on the express at Grand Street at 10:00pm. Got to Brighton Beach at 10:30pm. No train in sight. Ran from Brighton Beach and reached Coney Island station by 10:41. Total commute time from Chinatown to Coney Island: 41 minutes. I reckon that's even faster than taking the or from Canal Street on a typical day.

CenSin Posted March 16, 2014 Share #5949 Posted March 16, 2014 I had scenarios where it took me 30-40 minutes with the from Canal to Kings Highway from that starting time. Though it is more convenient for me to take the I think you misread. I spent the last 11 minutes of my trip running by foot from Brighton Beach to Coney Island. And to my astonishment, taking the (operated by a competent crew) and then running was faster than all the other options except taking the and then catching the at Sheepshead Bay. The can be pretty quick, but depending on the time of day, crowds can hold the train at local stations longer than usual which makes the very useful if it can save 5 minutes and get me to a at Sheepshead Bay.
R32 3838 Posted March 16, 2014 Share #5950 Posted March 16, 2014 Again, my point is not that the cannot handle them, it's that the bean counters f**ked up on this one when they didn't reconfigure the schedule at all to avoid the kind of overcrowding and gaps in service that we're seeing. Like I said numerous times they're not gonna last long on the , they can't handle the load like in the past, I don't see what's so damn hard to give the R142's from somewhere else and place the R62A's elsewhere
