Running the (W) is less confusing and the (Q) usually runs every 10 minutes on weekends so sending select (Q) trains to Astoria would be an service cut for SAS.

Surprisingly, the (Q) ran every 8 minutes today, despite that horrendous merge at 57 St-7 Av with 5 TPH on the (N), 7.5 (Q) trains,  5 (R) trains, and 3 (W) trains.

Last weekend was great. (Q) Brighton express from Sheepshead Bay all the way to Prospect Park. Took the (F) back express from Smith–9 Streets to Kings Highway. Trains were hauling ass.

Unfortunately got the upcoming weekend, the (Q) is only express from Sheepshead Bay to Kings Highway and probably comes with a lot of flagging. The quasi-(NX67) makes a return, but is a 4 Avenue local in both directions. Looks like we’re only going to save time on the (F) express this weekend…

For service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, take the (A)(C) or (L) via transfer at Broadway Junction.

Planned - Suspended

No M trains running

May 27 - 30, Fri 11:30 PM to Mon 10:00 PM (includes Memorial Day)

Free shuttle buses make stops between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Marcy Av.

No (J) trains between Myrtle Av and Marcy Av during this time.

(J) trains provide service between Marcy Av and Delancey St-Essex St.

For direct service to/from Manhattan, take the (L) via transfer at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs Accessibility.

A few interesting things to note is that the (R)'s weekend GO to 9 Av got extended into June so running the (E) to Whitehall full time during the weekend isn't a problem (can't wait for random (E) trains get extended into South Brooklyn). The (L) is the only service running around normally for the Eastern Division as (J) trains are pretty much split in two with basically shuttle service providing connection between Brooklyn and Manhattan. Unfortunately, the (A) and (C) are going to be a bit of an issue to use as alternatives because of it's GO going on too with both of them rerouted via the (D) and (F) at least for downtown service.

Speaking of that (R) G.O.:

Even though they say that the late night shuttle from Whitehall St is suspended, the last train from Forest Hills and the first two southbound shuttle trains of the night run to 9th Avenue before the suspension fully takes effect. Caught me off guard at Herald Square tonight after I unwittingly missed the last full 95th Street train.

(3) service is suspended

Just saw that. It’s going to be a living hell for western queens transit users on weekends next year. Hopefully the (MTA) makes better plans than just shuttle buses like increased LIRR service at woodside and other western queens stations (especially the PW branch). q32 service (including overnight) etc… Probably going to be just as impactful (if not more) than the (L) train shutdown a few years ago. Hopefully the Sunnyside LIRR station and ESA is completed by then since that can take off the load.

Does anyone know what the official headway is for the (E) to Whitehall street is? Doesn’t say that the (E) is running reduced service but according to the gtfs schedules on Google maps and the My MTA app, the (E) is running on a 15 minute headway instead of the normal 12 minutes.

It was supposed to be  every 12 minutes, but a lot  of factors made the headways closer to  15-20 minutes.

1. The incident at Canal St yesterday

2. The full-local service in the Queens Corridor

3.  flagging along Queens Blvd, and the merging with the (N)(R) .

4.  crew shortages

So they are going to shut down the (J) AGAIN between 121st St & Jamaica Center from July to September. Didn't they JUST do a full shutdown of that section not even a year ago?

Actually it was the winter of 2018-19 but yeah it was a bit recent. But may I ask where you have heard of this? I haven't seen anything about a shutdown on the site.

It doesn't appear on the planned service change for July 1. Since the late night GO between 121 and Jamaica Center this week was cancelled, could they have also cancelled this 24/7 suspension?

The GOs for the June changes are between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av only. It’s only starting in July that the suspension of service east of 121 St will occur. Will the (J) be forced to run every 8 minutes on the whole line during rush hours during this change (considering the (J) / (Z) skip stop service will be suspended). I’m also pretty sure the crew changes will be at Broadway Junction just like last time there was the 24-7 closure

More details were given on the MTA Site. While Skip-Stop service will still be suspended, (J) frequencies will remain the same. Also, shuttle bus frequencies were posted and will run under the J99 moniker. LIRR will be cross-honoring as well during the shutdown.

If the service frequencies remain the same, then why can’t the skip stop run west of Woodhaven Blvd, with all (J)(Z) trains making local stops at 121 St, 111 St and 104 St. i thought the skip stop was suspended because there was reduced track capacity due to using 121 St as a terminal. Can someone please explain this?

How is the (J) frequency going to stay the same if the (Z) isn't running?
