Metro CSW Posted October 30, 2012 Share #30 Posted October 30, 2012 I see a few buses on the B6, but only hourly.
polarbebe Posted October 30, 2012 Share #31 Posted October 30, 2012 I saw the list that the MTA posted regarding which bus lines are resuming but see no mention of any express bus service. I tried calling 511, got transferred to an operator by the machine but was promptly disconnected. The MTA website is basically down besides stating the effects of Sandy/few bus listings. I was assuming the x27/x37 that run from Brooklyn to Manhattan through the Brooklyn-Battery tunnel would be down but saw a posting on social media (Facebook) that some express buses would be going over the Manhattan bridge. Can anybody confirm or deny this rumor? Thank you.
QM1to6Ave Posted October 30, 2012 Share #32 Posted October 30, 2012 Just saw a Q46 in service. Friends have taken M5, M7, and Bx7. MTA is on the ball. Somehow bus service is better than a normal day lol.

GojiMet86 Posted October 30, 2012 Share #34 Posted October 30, 2012 Yep, I can confirm that the Q69 is indeed running. It's taking a detour, turning north unto 31st Street, and a left unto 21st Avenue, and upon reaching 21st Street, making its regular run (unless there's something beyond). gtNovaBusRTS9369 Posted October 30, 2012 Share #35 Posted October 30, 2012 I heard an Q83 & possibly a Q3 running in my hood. Sounds like on a midnight schedule however as I heard one bus from each line.

Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 31, 2012 Share #38 Posted October 31, 2012 Basically it's impossible to get from Manhattan from the outerboroughs, so for anyone who wanted to go in today that wasn't possible via the bus.
w8Hou Posted October 31, 2012 Share #39 Posted October 31, 2012 Atlantic Express X23 and X24 will run tommorrow. http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2012/10/mta_operating_limited_bus_serv.html
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 31, 2012 Share #40 Posted October 31, 2012 Well I hope other bus lines are running tomorrow... I really need to get in and catch up on work and working from home is not easy since I don't have all of my stuff with me.
RtrainBlues Posted October 31, 2012 Share #41 Posted October 31, 2012 Will Staten Island and Brooklyn express buses be running into Manhattan tomorrow? Will they be fare-free as well since the subway is out? Or will they accept Unlimited Metrocard (at the $2.25 rate) in this emergency?

Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 31, 2012 Share #43 Posted October 31, 2012 Unfortunately, I don't see any info on the express buses. Local buses I can see being free, but not express buses. Don't see that happening. Tomorrow the entire bus system should be up and running anyway.
Grand Concourse Posted October 31, 2012 Share #44 Posted October 31, 2012 Why not? Not every place is served by local buses, some places the express bus is the only line they have. The MTA's site says yes. until 5pm, iirc.

WestSideJeff Posted October 31, 2012 Share #46 Posted October 31, 2012 Yep, the M5 is running. Not an exact Sunday schedule, but better than than nothing, amirite? AFAIK they are running below 26th St, but the downtown 5 I was on tonight became a 42nd St short-turn with the driver change at 135th/Broadway; so the downtown service could be pretty limited. No idea about the express buses, but if the SIR and the Staten Island Ferry aren't back yet, it would make sense to get a couple of them, at least the X1 and the X17, up and running and free until the ferry and subways are back. That's the only real way from SI to Manhattan for the time being.
Grand Concourse Posted October 31, 2012 Share #47 Posted October 31, 2012 And what happens at 17:00?? then you gotta pay, of course. Mta needs that money to pay for operational expenses
Kriston Lewis Posted October 31, 2012 Share #48 Posted October 31, 2012 Express buses are operating tomorrow according to NY1 and the MTA's Twitter. Routes from Staten Island and Brooklyn are likely going to be diverted over the Manhattan Bridge and Queens service will likely operate over the Ed Koch-59th Street Bridge. Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 31, 2012 Share #49 Posted October 31, 2012 then you gotta pay, of course. Mta needs that money to pay for operational expenses And that's my point... Folks b*tch about how expensive express buses are so that would be insanely generous to make them AND local buses free. They didn't do that before the storm. They cross honored LIRR and MetroNorth tickets but you still had to pay. Same thing with the express buses.
