trainfan22 Posted July 25, 2014 Share #7228 Posted July 25, 2014 So I guess the 160s on the G is not going to happen? The G.O starts tomorrow and no 160s ran on the G today or I'm sure someone would have made a post about it. Would be a PITA to do the entire swap overnight.

R33WF Posted July 25, 2014 Share #7230 Posted July 25, 2014 Yesterday they sent an R68A via 6th Av to Columbus Circle due to a stalled train somewhere on the broadway line. I rode it from 42St Bryant Pk To 59St Columbus Circle

Lance Posted July 25, 2014 Share #7235 Posted July 25, 2014 2818 had its old Akzidenz-Grotesk rollsigns replaced, sadly. I wonder if it popped up on the B or G lines beforehand.
MHV9218 Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7236 Posted July 26, 2014 I wonder if it popped up on the B or G lines beforehand. 2788 was behind it on the B with "North Terminal" instead of Harlem 145 on the sign.
Q43LTD Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7237 Posted July 26, 2014 Few things I noticed when the Queens Blvd fast track was in effect. The says Roosevelt Av via express. So does the . There's no local program?
MTA Dude Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7238 Posted July 26, 2014 About the R160s, can somebody go check if they are on? Or whatever the story is about the .
MTA Bus Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7239 Posted July 26, 2014 The program says Roosevelt Avenue Queens Blvd LCL.
Lance Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7240 Posted July 26, 2014 2788 was behind it on the B with "North Terminal" instead of Harlem 145 on the sign. I guess that's why the signs were finally replaced. Harlem-145 St isn't on those '86 signs. Neither is Court Sq for that matter.
XcelsiorBoii4888 Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7241 Posted July 26, 2014 Do you think there are still rails from 100yrs ago? Or everything was replaced. Honestly I think everything was replaced, but you never know.
Lance Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7242 Posted July 26, 2014 The actual rails, probably not. However, some of the structures, notably the eastern part of the Jamaica elevated, are over a hundred years old.

Honestly I think everything was replaced, but you never know.IIRC the upper level of the Myrtle Ave station still has rails from when service stopped running up there. Those are probably the oldest rails in the system if there still there.
N6 Limited Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7244 Posted July 26, 2014 If the Broadway Line was going to be extended north as the Morningside Ave line, how would the line have gotten to Columbus Ave?
Lance Posted July 26, 2014 Share #7245 Posted July 26, 2014 According to the 1939 Second System plans, the line would've run directly underneath Central Park until it hit the Lenox Avenue line, then head northwest below the Central Park West line to hit Morningside Ave. I'm not sure if the IND intended for the line to run under City College below both Morningside Ave and Convent Ave or continue under Morningside Ave to Amsterdam Ave.
N6 Limited Posted July 27, 2014 Share #7246 Posted July 27, 2014 I guess that would have been an easy extension through the park. When they built the 63rd street line through the park was it cut and cover?
