Express to Local

Southbound (N)(Q)(W) are running with severe delays.

Southbound (R) trains are rerouted after Queens Plaza, resuming regular service at DeKalb Av.

What Happened?

NYPD conducted an investigation after a train's brakes were activated on the express track at Prince St.

Additional Updates:

Southbound (R) trains are running on the (E) line from Queens Plaza to 5 Av/53 St, then via the (F) line from 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr to W 4 St-Wash Sq, and then via the (B) line to DeKalb Av, where they will resume making regular stops.

Southbound (N)(Q) trains have resumed making regular stops in Manhattan.

Alternatives:

Manhattan:

For service along 2nd Ave, take nearby (4)(5)(6) trains on Lexington Ave.

For service along 7th Ave and Broadway, take (1)(2)(3) trains.

Between Manhattan and Brooklyn, consider (B)(C)(D)(F) or (2)(3)(4)(5) trains.

Brooklyn:

For (Q) service in Brooklyn, take a (B) train or a B68 bus.

Take a B82 or B82-SBS bus for service to Kings Hwy on the (F) line.

Take a B35 bus along Church Av for (2)(5)(F)(G) service.

Apparently there was something about a dude on the tracks with a knife.

This is the fourth time in four days now I believe, that (L) train service has been suspended due to people being struck by trains. Earlier this week people were struck at Bushwick Ave, Atlantic Ave(?) , and East 105th Street.

Part Suspended

There is no (L) train service between Atlantic Av and Lorimer St in both directions.

Emergency teams are responding to a person who was struck by a train at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

The last stop on Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy-bound (L) trains will be Lorimer St.

The last stop on 8 Av-bound (L) trains will be Atlantic Av.

As an alternative for service consider using nearby (A‌) (C) (J) (M) trains.

Something about a stuck brake or whatever relating to vandalism, DJH is saying something about it with people messing with the brakes and even someone breaking into the cab and screwing with the fuses. Guess we'll see later on if what he said is true with photo and video evidence, those are bound to appear.

Okay so update, apparently there was an issue with one of the axels and the brakes had to be pulled taking the train out of service. Vandalism wasn't the cause, apparently. It's at 2 Av just idling if I'm not mistaken, but it's almost 6PM so it'll be leaving soon.

Part Suspended

There are no (E) (F) trains between Manhattan and Queens while emergency teams respond to a person who was struck by a train near Lexington Av/53 St.

The last stop on southbound (E) (F) trains is Court Sq-23 St.

The last stop on northbound (F) trains is 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr.

Northbound (E) trains are running on the (A) line from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal to 145 St, where they will turn for southbound service.

As an alternative for service between Manhattan and Queens, take (7) (N) trains instead.

Northbound ‌(2) trains via the ‌(5) line from ‌Nevins St‌ to ‌149 St-Grand Concourse.

(1)(2) (3) trains are holding in stations in both directions.

We are investigating why a train's brakes activated near ‌96 St‌.

You may wait longer for a northbound ‌45 train as they share tracks with these rerouted trains.

According to citizen, two trains collided into each other at 96 St.

The NYCT twitter page confirmed it was a derailment near 96 st.  1 service is suspended between South Ferry and 137 st-city college in both directions.  3 service is suspended between 42 st and 148 st.  2 train is rerouted via the 5 in Manhattan.  The 4 and 5 are making all local stops in Brooklyn.

This is according to the MTA website.  Will try to update as service changes are made.

Supposedly it was 2 (1) trains.

I was there at 96 St I was headed downtown waiting for the (2)train and meanwhile I noticed there was a (1) train on the express track already leaving the station slowly and a NIS (1) train on the local track skipping the stop but I didn’t put much mind into it. Like in 2 minutes my train arrived and it took a while for the train to leave and that’s when I heard a really loud noise like a bang I looked around and saw that a few people also heard the noise. The doors closed but the train just stood there for a while didn’t move, the hvac went off and then the doors opened again and it left the station slowly. Noticed a (3)train waiting to enter the station, a (2)train stuck at 79 St, and (3) train at 72 St. In like an hour I guess, I get a notification from the citizen app that 2 trains collided.

Per the MTA site, the service disruptions made after the derailment at 96th St will still be ongoing for the rest of the day:

At least until the end of the day: No (1) service between 137 St-City College and Times Sq-42 St.

Take (A)(C)(B)(D)(R)(W) trains or buses.

Emergency teams are conducting an investigation after a train derailed near ‌96 St‌.

(1) trains are running in two sections:

Between 137 St and 242 St

Extremely limited service between South Ferry and 42 St. Northbound (1) trains are running express from Chambers St to Times Sq-42 St.

For northbound service to/from local stops from Chambers St to 28 St, take M20 and M55 buses.

For service between 137 St-City College and 215 St, consider M4, M5, Bx7, and M100 buses.

For service between Marble Hill-225 St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St, consider Bx3, Bx9, and Bx10 buses.

Metro North is cross-honoring between Marble Hill-225 St and Grand Central-42 St.

For additional service between:

168 St-Washington Hts and Chambers St, consider (A)(C)(B)(D) Trains.

South Ferry and Times Sq-42 St, consider (R) (W) trains, and M20 and M55 buses.

QBL meltdown just in time:

Multiple Changes

(E) (F) trains are running with severe delays in both directions.

Most northbound (F) trains are rerouted from Bergen St to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.

What's Happening?

We're addressing a signal problem near Court Sq-23 St.

Updates:

Rerouted northbound (F) trains are running on the (G) line from Bergen St to Court Sq, then via the (E) line to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.

These trains are rerouted to alleviate track congestion along Queens Blvd.

Expect (G) delays while trains share tracks.

Alternatives:

For service between Manhattan and Queens, consider taking (N) (R) (W) (7) trains or a Q17 bus.

For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, consider taking a (B) (D) (M) train.

R needs help

You can’t force people to go into work when they don’t want to. The (R) on the proposed 8 minute headway along with the (E) every 8 minutes on the express handling the displaced (7) commuters would have been sufficient, but these days many crews aren’t coming in for whichever reason.
the (N) to 71 Av cannot work for one reason…. CBTC!!! Even if the “midday local (E)(F)“ operation between QP and 71 Av is cancelled, you cannot run (N) and (R)s both to 71 Av because there aren’t enough R160s to cover both routes AND there aren’t enough crews. Running the (N) to 71 Av and relay is LONGER than the normal (N) route to Ditmars Blvd, and on top of that you need to staff the shuttle (N) in Astoria, which means you’d have likelihood for crew shortages on two fronts.

There is no (M) service at 57 St.

There is no Metropolitan Av-bound (M) service in Manhattan.

(M) trains are running via the (F) line between 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr and Queens Plaza in both directions.

The last stop on some 57 St-bound (M) trains will be Chambers St (via (J) line).

Listen for train crew announcements to hear how your train will run.

What's Happening?

We are addressing a signal problem near 57 St.

Expect delays in (E) (F) trains while they share tracks with rerouted trains.

Travel Alternatives:

For southbound local service along 6 Av, use the (F) train.

For service to/from 57 St, use the nearby 57 St-7 Av ( (N) (Q) (R) (W) station) or the nearby 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr station.
