Planned Subway Service Changes

What's this sudden L work about?

Planned Work

Starting at 1:30pm, L trains will run every 20 mins between Bedford Av and 1 Av, while our crews replace damaged cables at Bedford Av.

Some 8 Av-bound trains will end at Bedford Av.

Canarsie-bound trains will stop on the 8 Av-bound tracks between 1 Av andBedford Av.

Consider taking an A C J or M train for service between Manhattan and Brooklyn.

We'll get trains back on their regular schedule as soon as possible.

In all likelihood, something that wouldn't have come up with the full shutdown. *shot*

IIRC there was an unplanned service change a week or so ago about cables getting damaged.

I thought they can terminate both the (3) and (4) at Utica Ave together . I guess not that weekend for some reason.  At least there not doing that during the week . It’s been a long time since they did that during the week

They are probably doing some work along the express tracks between Atlantic av Barclays center and Utica Av, hence probably why the (4) train is terminating there.

The least they can do is have the (4) run local in both directions between Atlantic and Utica, and make sure that the (4) is behind the (3) so that there are no delays on the (3).

The problem is they are both terminating at Utica and if they are both on the same track it’s kind of rough .

Its not really that rough. When they have done the weekend (2) to Utica Avenue G.O during the evening hours, from like 9:30 PM to like around 10:45 PM when the southbound (4) local in Brooklyn started, you had all three lines sharing the local tracks with two of them turning at Utica Avenue which is actually worse than having just the (3) and (4) Trains sharing the local tracks. The only other reason I can see them having the (4) turned at Atlantic Avenue days/evenings for the G.O is that more than likely they're also doing work at one of the relays.

And that would lead to the MTA either reducing (2) and (4) service or cutting the (3) out of Brooklyn, forcing the (2) to run local for about half of the Manhattan leg (if not shelving it entirely for the relevant weekends).

ACCESSIBILITY & STATION WORK
Sep 13 - 16, Fri 10:45 PM to Mon 5 AM
(L) Service between Broadway Junction in Brooklyn and 8 Av in Manhattan is replaced by (A) (C) (G) (J) (M) trains, M14 and free shuttle buses

(L) trains run between Rockaway Pkwy and Broadway Junction. Trains board at the Queens Bound (J) platform

The (MTA) be like: Screw it, let's do the shutdown anyway while Prince Bollocks isn't watching. f1079cec8f0c7ace5ecce85fdc63c140-50x50.j

edit: Waitaminute, doesn't the (L) only run every 24 minutes for this? Man, they're gonna save a fortune keeping the whole (L) fleet in the yard.

That’s when it’s split at Broadway Junction. Usually if it runs only between south of the station, it’s every 10 minutes.

We’re both wrong.

Supplement says every 20 minutes.

It's running every 10 on both Saturday and Sunday. Should be...fun to see what happens at Bway Jct. I see they've scheduled Js and Ls within 30 seconds of each other during the evenings...

Well I'll be.... Google said every 20.

Then again, Transitfeeds hasn't updated every single line like Google has, although Transitfeeds has the (L) line seemingly correct (Google's data has the correct intervals for the 12 minute supplements while this site doesn't.)

9/11 MEMORIAL CEREMONY
Sep 11, Wednesday, 1 AM to 3 PM
(1) Trains skip WTC Cortlandt in both directions

Use (1) stations at Rector St or Chambers St  (2)(3)

Consider nearby Cortlandt St  |(R)(W) ((N) overnight) or World Trade Center  |(E)

Okay, I get that there's a ceremony, but is there a reason for starting this so early?

(As an aside, it was a real PITA to make sure the general format carried over, as I had to substitute the wheelchair symbol...)

For the first time, they’re keeping the (R) running; albeit via 6 Av (pretty much via the (M) line after Broadway-Lafayette. If the (B) continues running during the fastrack period (super unlikely), that will be 4 trains on the north side of the Manhattan Bridge and 3 Express/3 local services on 6 Av).

That probably is because they have to make sure everything is in order before anyone arrived for the ceremony.  All you need is one people determined to "make a statement" and the anniversary would be a time someone would want to do it.

The real scary part is we now have people becoming adults that were actually born AFTER 9/11.
