Wow...Is there enough shuttle buses to cover all this subway diversion??

When did this memo go out? I could've sworn that for the whole week, all of those (M) trains were signed up as (J) trains.

But I can see why passengers got confused, all of the countdown clocks along Nassau still displayed (M) trains to both Broadway Junction and Essex St, when a (J) train would actually pull into the station.

And to whoever said that my idea would only confuse people more, it's the opposite. This would make this G.O a lot more easier to understand. Take a look at these planned service changes poster I made compared to the real one:

My plan:

(2)No trains between South Ferry & East 180 St

Weekend, March 30th to April 1st

(1)(5) trains and free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

(2) trains operate between Dyre Av and East 180 St, the last stop.

(1) trains make all (2) stops between South Ferry and 96 St, running local. Some 242 St-bound (1) trains will end at 137 St.

(5) trains make all (2) stops between 241 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.

*No (3) trains at this time.

Their plan:

(2)No trains between 96 St & East 180 St

Weekend, March 30th to April 1st

(5) trains and free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

(2) trains operate in two sections:

Dyre Av to East 180 St

96 St to South Ferry, running express between 96 St & 34 St-Penn Station.

(5) trains make all (2) stops between 241 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.

*No (3) trains at this time.

You tell me which is more confusing.

Your plan is less confusing than their plan.

Looking at the planned service changes for May, it seems like the first weekend after (M) service returns to normal, there's a G.O that says "Forest Hills-bound (M) and (R) trains run express from Jackson Heights to Forest Hills". I'm guessing there's a G.O missing That's knocking out (F) on QBL?

Look at the duration of the change. It's from 11:45PM to 12:30AM. No need to kill the (F) when frequencies are that low.

There are going to be delays (as usual) as all trains share the same track but (M) and (R) still terminate at 71st Ave and hold up the (E) and (F).

The elevator at Ozone Park is finally opened after months of delays and it is closed again for some work.

Also,

No elevator service
to/from uptown platform at Canal St  station
due to Sandy Recovery Work
until May

Planned Work
TRACK MAINTENANCE

Jamaica-bound (F) trains run local from 21 St-Queensbridge to Roosevelt Av

Planned Work
SIGNAL MODERNIZATION

Jamaica-bound (F) trains run local from Roosevelt Av to 71 Av

Are they intentionally trying to confuse people? Is it really that hard to just say " (F) trains run local in Queens in both directions" ? We know practically everything in the system is screwed up so we don't really need to know the exact reason for work.

They both say Jamaica-bound.

It's because of the explanation on why. Note that the two service changes quoted above are in place for two separate reasons. As for riders not caring about why these service changes are in place, I'm going to respectfully disagree. In fact, some riders would likely prefer more information as to why their service is being rerouted beyond these generalized headers. That way, they know something is actually being done and the MTA isn't just rerouting service randomly for shits and giggles.
