Priincenene Posted September 25, 2015 Share #5626 Posted September 25, 2015 The countdown clocks will come online when CBTC does (tied into the system like the )...for now they have the ones like on on Queens Blvd Why does the QBL have it, and it would be interesting to see the having those announcements like the rest of the IRT division, with updates/delays too.
Javier Posted September 25, 2015 Share #5627 Posted September 25, 2015 Yea, but I thought that the(7) was suppose to get its countdown clocks online way before the was announced to get CBTC.

It has been in service on occasions.Theres still plenty of R62A left on the that are used for regular service so basically you'd find during middays some R188s laid at Corona or possibly now at the track extension layup after 34th St Hudson Yards. Just relax, certain sets of trains are not seen for awhlie either due to maintaince or any critical component work and Corona Yard is filling up with R188s.

Just answer that simple question. Just to satisfy everyone, R188s won't go to the . They were made specifically for CBTC, which Lex doesn't have. It would be a waste to give a CBTC car to a line that doesn't have it, while there's a line that does have it.

Remember, the was the first line to build CBTC throughout its tracks then the was next.
jon2305 Posted September 29, 2015 Share #5638 Posted September 29, 2015 And if the Capital Programs dont get funded, the Lexington line wont be seeing CBTC for a while.
Javier Posted September 29, 2015 Share #5639 Posted September 29, 2015 Speaking of CBTC aren't they testing different companies on each CBTC line?
P3F Posted September 29, 2015 Share #5640 Posted September 29, 2015 One system is Siemens, while the other is Thales.
jon2305 Posted September 29, 2015 Share #5641 Posted September 29, 2015 The line is Siemens and the is Thales. I think the Queens Blvd Line would be a combination of the two, I'm not really sure on that.
Tech And Transit Posted September 29, 2015 Share #5642 Posted September 29, 2015 ... Will you quit the jokes. This is meant to be a Professional discussion. Has any seen R188 7889 in service? 7899 has been in service for awhile now. And yeah the R188s will not be going to the , it makes absolutely no sense to take an 11 car CBTC ready train made for the , break it up and put it into a different arrangement just to have it run on a non CBTC line.
VIP Posted September 29, 2015 Share #5643 Posted September 29, 2015 We all should know by now that the R188s are exclusively for the until retirement. And we should all know that ALL their former R62A's are exclusively for the
CTK246 Posted September 30, 2015 Share #5644 Posted September 30, 2015 Anyone think they'll retrofit R142s for CBTC in the future? Or by that time would we need new cars? I know 7th Avenue and Lex have a while to go before CBTC.

I know 7th Avenue and Lex have a while to go before CBTC.That will probably be the case until the R62A's get retired. MCID45001222 Posted September 30, 2015 Share #5646 Posted September 30, 2015 .. Why is R142 #7071 - #7075 / #7076 - #7080 running out of Union port Yard . I thought Union port Yard return #7071 - #7075 / #7076 - #7080 to Jerome Yard . I spotted R142 #7071 - #7075 / #7076 - #7080 last week on service. Who says will have after R188 conversion is done . Westchester Yard will have R142A #7591 - #7655 only. That wrong. Don't forget Westchester Yard / Pelham Yard are loaning R62A from 240 street Yard R62A . At least whenever Westchester Yard return #2200 - #2400 series to 240 street Yard . Westchester Yard should get their R142A #7656 - #7670 ( 15 set remaining. ) back.. Westchester Yard should have R142A #7591 - #7670 ( 80 sets ). )

r142a7436 Posted October 1, 2015 Share #5650 Posted October 1, 2015 From what I know on the , 7591-7600 have the new motors. 7511 used to have the same motors as 7810, but has since been retrofitted to standard R142A motors. On the as far as I know only 7756-7760 have them, and those cars also have very bright lights.
