Creepy ‘Dexter’ Ad Made Woman Fall Down Subway Stairs

"The much-maligned series finale of Dexter was shocking to fans due to the fact that it was a terrible, no good, god-awful way to end the show. But it literally shocked at least one New Yorker, who was so traumatized by the subway advertisements for the final season, she broke her ankle.

DNAInfo reports that Ajanaffy Njewadda and her husband Sheik Ahmad Tejan Wadda, a former Gambian ambassador, are suing the MTA and Showtime over ads featuring star Michael C. Hall's face that were placed on stariwells around Grand Central Terminal. "Our contention is that the ad shouldn’t have been there,” the couple’s lawyer, Rehan Nazrali, told DNAinfo. "The combined nature of the ad along with its placement poses a hazard to people on the steps."

The lawsuit claims that Hall's face was “shocking and menacing," It frightened her enough that it allegedly caused her to lose her balance and fall down the steps, causing her to break her ankle and suffer a concussion. Njewadda's lawyer says she is still having nightmares about it, which is how Dexter fans probably feel about the end of that show as well. Some might think this lawsuit frivolous, but if suing Showtime over an ankle will bring some measure of peace to the millions of disappointed Dexter fans, then so be it."

This is ridiculous. How can she blame the placement of the add for her own clumsy accident? How many children walk past that add every day and manage to stay upright??

People have won money for dumber things...wouldn't be shocked if she gets a small settlement

If I was the judge, her settlement would come in the form of $2.75. Just enough for the snack and cola machine....

I agreed with Blitz.

Speaking off that, when NICE Bus had GoMobile poster at bus shelter and by schedule, no one was seem to notice.

Nobody pay attention to ad on subway or turnstile, or on bus when they're in hurry.

Please don't mention anything pertaining to NICE in this section.

A Bronx woman says a creepy ad for the Showtime serial killer TV series “Dexter” — painted on Grand Central Terminal stairs — spooked her so much that she tumbled down the steps and broke her ankle.

Ajanaffy Njewadda and husband Sheik Ahmad Tejan Wadda are suing the MTA, Showtime and the city over the sinister images that allegedly caused her spill on June 20 last year.

Njewadda claims in her Bronx Supreme Court lawsuit that she had gotten separated from her husband when they got off a subway and was shocked by a publicity image of “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall painted over an entire staircase.

The Showtime drama casts Hall as a mild-mannered crime scene investigator who carries out gruesome executions of criminals who unjustly beat the system.

The popular TV vigilante usually wraps his victims in plastic.

The photograph “extending the full length of the steps from the top of the platform to the bottom, depicted a shocking and menacing face of a Caucasian man ['Dexter’] exhibiting an expression of fear or shock and was covered, draped or enwrapped in cellophane/plastic wrap,” according to the lawsuit.

“That sight of the photograph startled, shocked and overwhelmed plaintiff Njewadda, causing her to panic and become fearful, which fright and anxiety caused her to panic and lose her balance on the steps thereto resulting in her falling and down the steps to the bottom thereof.”

The MTA declined comment.
