Part Suspended  Posted: 11/25/2019  8:15PM

There is no southbound (1) service between 137 St-City College and 96 St, and reduced northbound (1) service north of 96 St, while our crews work to correct a switch malfunction at 137 St-City College.

See a station agent for a courtesy pass to transfer between nearby bus routes and subway lines. Go to http://bt.mta.info/ for real-time bus arrival info. Follow this link for nearby bus routes: http://bit.ly/2qBhb2r

Southbound (2) and (3) trains are making local stops south of 96 St.

Delays  Posted: 11/25/2019  8:13PM

Expect delays on the (2) and (3) lines as downtown trains run local south of 96 St in Manhattan due to a switch malfunction at 137 St-City College on the (1) line.

Franklin Av S service is suspended in both directions while we investigate a mechanical problem on a train at Botanic Gardens.

Please see a station agent to receive a courtesy pass for continuing subway or bus service.

For alternate service, use B48 bus service. If that bus becomes crowded, also consider B43 bus service.

why can’t they run a shuttle on the other track ? Or even to Franklin if the track is clear?  I asked this before anyone know?

I believe it has to do with scheduling. If one set on the shuttle has a mechanical problem, the other must remain in the same spot until that set is repaired because of the switch at Botanical Garden.

Multiple Impacts

There are multiple impacts and delays in (E) train service while we request police and EMS assistance for someone who was struck by a train at Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av/JFK Airport.

There is no (E) train service between Briarwood and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer in both directions.

Some northbound (E) trains are stopping along the (F) line from Briarwood to Jamaica-179 St.

Some northbound (E) trains are ending at Queens Plaza and Forest Hills-71 Av.

Multiple Impacts

There are delays and multiple impacts to (2), (4), (5) and (6) train service while we work with FDNY to help someone who was struck by a train at Brook Av.

There is no Bronx-bound (4)(5) and (6) train service north of 86 St.

(2) trains are running between Wakefield-241 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse in both directions.

(4) trains are running between Woodlawn and 149 St-Grand Concourse in both directions.

(5) trains are running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St in both directions.

(6) trains are running between Pelham Bay Park and Hunts Point Av in both directions.

Is it just me or are the incidents of passengers being struck by a train getting more common?

Is it possible there was an additional incident because the one noted that caused areas where the (2)(4)(5) and (6) all go through to have to have power cut off?

Why did they have to suspend all service north of 86th st?

When they removed power on the 6 line, the power limits stretch as far south s 125th, and affected the switch at 149th Street Grand Concourse as well; affecting the 2 and 5 as well as the 4. Technically if the 5 wasn't running, the 2 would've ran fine. Not to mention the 5 was overhanging the switch south of 149 as well

Power shutoff for GOs always has seemed more precise than 12-9 power shut offs IME. I'll ask, when it is a GO do workers open knife switches or manual switchgear in a closet somewhere? But a 12-9 requires immediate REMOTE power shutoff that uses motorized switch gear controlled by "telephone lines" from RCC and there are far fewer of those, and they shut off the whole substation, not any particular track or 3rd rail "circuit"? Or does FDNY/NYPD have far stricter rules for power shutoff than MOW, all tracks, 2 miles or 2 stations in each direction from incident location?

No, power is controlled remotely from the Power Director's location. Emergency responders need more room to work. In the case of a 12-9 there's an investigation and lots of people milling around, many who only get Track Safety training once in a blue moon. Plus you need to look for the chunks so 12-9s cover a wider area for that reason. The other thing is they will express the outage area in relation to where trains can terminate (or where they want passengers to exit) so that the power may be on until 125th St, but since trains cant terminate there, they say the effect is until 86th St because its TMI. GOs don't have these issues since they're preplanned, so everyone involved is proficient in Track Safety and the locations of everyone are known and the routes around the affected area have been established, this is important in the B Division since there may be an unmanned Tower in the way so it may not be possible to use all the routes that are apparent on paper.

There are delays and multiple impacts to (N) and (R) service while emergency teams respond to someone that was struck by a train at 45 St.

Southbound (N) trains are running on the (D) line from 36 St (Brooklyn) to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

Northbound (N) trains are running on the (Q) line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to DeKalb Av.

Southbound (R) trains are ending at 9 Av over the (D) line.

*There is a shuttle train operating between 86 St and 8 Av

Wow. That broken rail on the Central Park West might have screwed up service on the Culver southbound too. All those (B)(D) trains that were not coming caused some crazy crowding on the first (F) that showed up at 5:27 PM.

Looking back at the plots, I noticed that they are not very accurate. The (6) was held at Spring Street for 8 minutes. It wasn’t in the tunnel between Canal Street and Spring Street for that long.

There was no (D) train in the station at Broadway–Lafayette Street despite the countdown clock reading “0 minutes.” The data here is also not accurate.

Notice the number of Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue-bound (F) trains that go express. That express track got a lot of exercise today. I was on the train that got to Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue at 6:16 PM since I missed the 5:13 PM <F> at Broadway–Lafeyette Street. What’s interesting is that train supervision has made a habit of holding that particular <F> train at Kings Highway right up to the scheduled departure time if the trains behind are delayed or bunched up. Usually, the Kings Highway-bound (F) that was 5 minutes ahead at Broadway–Lafayette Street catches up for a cross-platform transfer.

Uhh… Are these two distinct problems or one problem with the wrong station names?

Expect delays on southbound (2) trains while they share the local track with (5) trains in the Bronx because of a switch problem at E 180 St.

Expect delays on southbound (4) and (5) trains as they share the tracks with (2) trains in Manhattan because of a switch problem at 135 St.

They were separate.

My (F) was slow that it got beaten by an (M) between Forest Hills and Roosevelt. The (M) left a minute after the (F) and left Roosevelt about 2 minutes before it arrived. What is up with QBL this morning?

Some signal issue at 135-Lenox and a police investigation at New Lots caused severe delays to the (2) and (3), and probably spread over to the (4) and (5) as well all morning long.

Manhattan-bound (3) service has been leaving New Lots Av on longer than regular headways as I waited for one to come to Sutter-Rutland, and I got on a (4) to New Lots just so I could get a seat straight to Manhattan. Unfortunately, it was taken out of service when it got to New Lots, but it did not go straight to the yard. It left the station northbound and possibly ran lite to Utica where I believe it was put back in service. Might give out full details later.

Trains Rerouted Posted: 12/9/19 12:43 PM

(F) and (M) trains are rerouted in Queens and Manhattan while we work to overcome an issue with the signaling system at Queensboro Plaza.

(F) trains are running on the (E) line between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and 5 Av/53 St and on the (M) line to/from 47-50 Sts Rockefeller Ctr in both directions.

(M) trains are running on the (F) line between 36 St and 47-50 Sts Rockefeller Ctr in both directions.

For service to/from 21 St-Queensbridge, Roosevelt Island, Lexington Av/63 St and 57 St (F) stations, use (M) trains serving those stops.

For service to/from Queens Plaza, Court Sq, Lexington Av/53 St and 5 Av/53 St (M) stations, use (F) trains serving those stops.
