go25 Posted September 25, 2013 Share #377 Posted September 25, 2013 well im back in NJ for 2 weeks. but first things first: the way I arrived was pretty long but worth it. Took Amtrak's Cardinal from Cincinnati, OH to Newark Penn. A 20 hour trip (train was an hour late) but to experience the route was great. but once the train pulled out of DC the rest was history. but this is a topic for another thread lol. however i did get my bus rides in today and few things popped out: *first one was the few remaining Novas in Orange. Saw 2 13XXs and 1514 on the 94 and 27 in the AM, then 1407 on the 5 at Penn Station during the PM rush hour. Get them last rides people *second about the whole clever device thing; it isn't about the GPS system (which some people here are complete foamers. not attacking people, just saying). the bell when you hit the Stop Requested tape/button on the Neo's and Crapi's changed. it sounds like when you hit the button in the plane to call in a flight attendant. Has anyone noticed that anywhere else?
go25 Posted September 25, 2013 Share #378 Posted September 25, 2013 Forgot to add this, as far as the Novas go. We know some got sent to A&C Bus. I found 2 of them on the 31 wrapped in Coach USA livery. One was 1515 and another was 155x
BZGuy Posted September 26, 2013 Share #379 Posted September 26, 2013 Wayne's 8853 now has LED signs. Looks like they are from a Nova....smaller front sign. Looks ok....not sure if they are gonna do anymore like that.

I'm getting real tired of having to strain my eyes to look at the green flipdots.

DaTransitMan4608 Posted September 27, 2013 Share #386 Posted September 27, 2013 7757 has LED signs from a CNG. It was out on the 116 today....looked good. Looks like NJT wants to recycle the AESYS LEDs for the D4000s. This should be pretty interesting. Maybe they'll do the same with the D4500s too.
553 Bridgeton Posted September 27, 2013 Share #387 Posted September 27, 2013 All the D4000s/4500s are suppose to get new luminators, which was suppose to have happened years ago. After the cng ones are recycled then new luminators are be put on whats left.

The 62 got split recently. From Newark Penn to Elizabeth via Airport and Ikea is the new 62. From Elizabeth to all points south of the original 62 is now the new route 48

go25 Posted October 8, 2013 Share #392 Posted October 8, 2013 nice.. ok thanks.. and why did they split if you know? Cause the original 62 heading to the airport in either direction be experiencing heavy crush loads causing the bus to be late.

BZGuy Posted October 12, 2013 Share #394 Posted October 12, 2013 The Nova's in the dead lot next to the Meadowlands garage are being moved around. Plus there is a Nova parked against the fence outside te Meadowlands garage.......I think a return to service might be likely for some units.

go25 Posted October 18, 2013 Share #396 Posted October 18, 2013 While I know that the ALP-44s are retired from service, but I noticed that there was one still with its pantograph installed and the windows not covered/plated outside of the MMC when I was in town recently.
DaTransitMan4608 Posted October 24, 2013 Share #397 Posted October 24, 2013 Well I got bored after school so I decided to head down to Freehold on the 131 today. Those CNGs are old man I tell you. I was up in the front and the dashboard looked like it came straight from the mid-90s. I think it looks old to me because I looked at some pics of the newer D4500CTs on MCI's website and the specs on those buses looked fairly new. I think we're gonna be in for a real treat here. I don't know what the fuss about the Monmouth County Veolia operation is all about. I took the 833 today and I had a pretty good ride. and in other news, I almost fell asleep on 8200 again. Orion VII 4 Life Posted November 1, 2013 Author Share #400 Posted November 1, 2013 832 isn't that reliable dude. Nothing Veolia runs here is reliable... 836 20 minutes late today. But yeah, let's renew their contract over and over...
