Lance Posted February 19, 2014 Share #251 Posted February 19, 2014 It was deleted some time last week, but it obviously came back, now as a two-weekend shutdown. Let's just hope it doesn't snow again to cancel it.

MichalkaManiac Posted February 26, 2014 Share #255 Posted February 26, 2014 I had asked on twitter why the weekend work on the was beginning at 2AM instead of midnight. Their answer was that they wanted "to allow for those visiting #LIC from Manhattan via #7 to get to 42nd-St Grand Central etc." https://twitter.com/nyctsubwayscoop/status/438791690535854081

Lance Posted April 4, 2014 Share #271 Posted April 4, 2014 Take another look at the actual service changes before you start talking about "excessive shutdowns". The only lines which will see no service at all are the 4 (149 St to Woodlawn), A/C (Jay St to Utica Av) and N (Queensboro Plaza to Ditmars Blvd). Everything else is a one-directional reroute, local/express run or is related to station rehabilitations on the Pelham and Brighton lines. And the closure of the Montague tubes, but that should be a given by now.

bobtehpanda Posted April 4, 2014 Share #274 Posted April 4, 2014 That's still four lines too many to not see service. The is the , though. Right, because the MTA fairy is just supposed to rub two nickels together, and maintenance will happen without any service disruptions or hitches during the rush hour. You can pick two out of three: Service runs fine, Service runs 24/7, and MTA fixes 30 years' worth of maintenance backlog so that service continues to run fine. You don't stop going to the dentist because it's painful and you don't like it.
Lance Posted April 5, 2014 Share #275 Posted April 5, 2014 That's still four lines too many to not see service. The is the , though. Then what pray tell would you do to keep service running while also maintaining the system to provide said service? There's no way you could always have both. There will have to be times when certain lines have to be shut down because it just isn't possible to run service while also performing maintenance work.
