Since this is fleet swap,  the North Division (also known as IRT A Division) is staying silent with the swap of subway cars since all R62As from the Flushing line were sent to Pelham (with exception of extra single units) and R142As from Pelham were converted with CBTC on the Flushing line. Last year around October 2018.  Movements can occur during 2022 or just sets moving around time to time.

These are the fleet assignments for December, before they just changed for the R46/R160 swap.

The AM assignment for the A has gone down from 39 to 38, while the AM for the 7 has gone up from 36 to 38, and the PM has gone up from 34 to 37. The 42nd Street shuttle has gone down from 3 to 2. The number of R62As at Livonia has gone up from 20 to 22, and 2 are back at Corona for work service. The number of R46s at Pitkin has decreased from 388 to 356, and the number of R179s is up from 50 to 90. At Jamaica, the number of R46s has gone up from 364 to 396.

Two sets of R46 (N) were in service today. They both crossed eachother in service on the Manhattan Bridge at around 6:50PM. I didn't catch the rest of the car numbers except for the one I was on myself, which was 5816. You can see the rest of the car numbers on the set I was on in the video linked:

So as someone who is way out of the loop on this stuff.... when is CBTC being activated on Queens Blvd? I assumed it wouldn't be ready until the early 2020s....

Not 100% sure on the timing, but the swaps on the (7) started happening in 2013/2014, which was a few years before testing began IIRC

Scuttlebutt has the first section cut over 12/23 (no that isn't a typo)

I heard that as well from here. How did this get accelerated so much? I look forward to the increased speeds at Rego Park. Do you think it will make much of a difference in running times?

Someone actually saw a R46 W in service. Note that a rollsign is set to N—this is a run starting at 86 https://i.imgur.com/vGKh7SY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zXAITP8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/htd9zfP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CdYtHHX.jpg

Wait really!?!

Yes. The W started service on July 2001. During that time, the (N) and (W) were mostly R32, R40 S, R40M/R42, and R68/As. And for the better part of the last 10 years, R68/A and R160. Thus, this is the 1st time that the (W) will use the R46s.
